I think things will start to plateau. Look at things like sports records for examples. Records are made by hundreds and thousandths of a second. Gone are the days of crushing records is over.
I think we will find figures will get better but not with leaps and bounds that we are currently seeing.

Absolutely. Honestly that's the only way to look at it.

You dudes are forgetting ome thing also, I mean look at the "evolution of the terminators" thing the guy posted as proof.

Kids doll -15 bucks
Big kids NECA doll (which wasn't from 10 years ago by the way) -60 bucks
Adult doll- 200 bucks

It's not that things got that much better, well they did, but the price point from these items are in completely different territories. Really a new corner of the market opened up.

McFarlane/NECA quality for example plateaued a decade ago.

Don't expect much more evolution in the way of 1/6

^:goodpost: Thing will likely not get to much better in the next couple of years but things are advancing slowly. The articulation has greatly improved over the past few years and I think it will continue with more articulation in the hands becoming more common. The use of real like hair my become more common aswell (not a fan myself) but if done right will make figures look more realistic. I think we are also starting to see the use of more durable materials lately too, with hot toys changing there plastic a year or so ago to a more durable kind, and kaustic plastik now advertise that there bodys are super durable for lifetime enjoyment. I for one welcome this, not that I play with them but I hate when they break during posing.

So yeah we will not likely see much new stuff but minor improvements. The most interesting resently will be the new 12" ironman made of mostly metal by play imagination, while not the first figure to be made of metal still a interesting improvement over current versions.

Detail and scale size...but more $$$. More exclusives, like EXX, EX, and regular versions. No new ideas just throw in more heads and weapons.

Look at what collectibles look like now, then compare that to what stuff looked like say 10 years ago. In 10 years all the collectibles now will be that crappy. :lol

I don't think so. There is a limit to the realism that can be put into a foot-tall action figure. We're nearing the peak.

There will be technological developments and improvements ... but not nearly high-impact changes like occurred between, say, the Toys McCoy Indiana Jones and the Hot Toys Superman (I'd have said HT Indy if it looked anything like him).

I have already envisioned it:
  • No more visible joints.
  • Posable "skeletons" covered with seamless body (silicone or perhaps new material)
  • Single battery, remote control operated light up features. Eventually, wireless electricity light up features.
  • Battery powered and remote control operated "mechanical" features (Iron Man face mask up or down, reveal hide War Machine weapons, moving Predator shoulder cannon, moving doors and flaps for Tumbler, regular to hoover wheels in BTTF Delorean.

and that is just the beginning! The technology for all of those already exist, they just have to start implementing it.

I really hope for some remote controlled operated lights sooner than later though. I barely use the light up features because they are pain to turn on.

very good :panic:

About how I see it too.
