Dear SS,

What's up with the high prices on your comiquettes? I used to love this line because it was affordable compared to the premium formats ranging from $250-$400. When I bought Mary Jane, Black Cat, and Roque, they were between $125-$150. Today, you have comiquettes more expensive than some premium formats for example Spiderman, Hobgoblin, Beast, etc. And now I just notice the Non-refundable deposits. That's what Wait lists are for. It is what it is...

Chinese workers now eat Iranian caviar and drink Lafite 1869.

Seems like no matter how much an item costs they sell out. Even when it clear that an item is waaaaay overpriced. If you could sell $300 statue for $500 wouldn't you? The current pricing is our fault not Sideshow's. Vote with your wallet. Next time a $500 maquette with a crap paint job is priced at $1200 let them keep it. At the end of the day these things (just like anything else) are worth what people are willing to pay for them.

On the radio today, I heard that what's up is what's going down. Not sure if it is true or not, but maybe Sideshow heard the same and decided they better milk this cow while it's still got udders to yank, y'know?

The demand for Marvel items is probably higher than ever, so could be a price based on demand system. Im not sure if Sideshow would deliberately over-price their items....isn't that what flippers do? - They are in the business of high end collectibles...which means that they are going to be expensive based on edition size, labor , demand, etc... In short....the can charge whatever the ____ they feel like and people will pay it because they are the best at what they do.

As for the deposit system - This is to prevent people from ordering every item possible, then when it comes time to pay for them, there are mass cancellations. If you have to pay money up front that you aren't getting back, you are more likely to only order items you absolutely want to keep/buy. If an item sells out in less than a minute, and 300 people cancel - there are tons of items that have been made to fill orders that aren't going to be purchased. It's a good business move for Sideshow - not so good for those who just click on every item to see how quickly it sells out.
Don't know really ....that's just my opinion on the matters

Sideshow needs to find another third world country to produce these. The chinese are getting unexploitable lately.

While not the only component to this mystery, Sideshow's definitely covering costs with Marvel and Star Wars. Companies do it all the time, when they take a risk or when they sell a product that doesn't do as expected, they will not take a full loss, they'll simply tack on a higher price tag to proven selling products so recoup some of that. Rick O' Connell for example, if he is the new Van Helsing PF rotting away on the shelves then you'll see an increase on a few other items across selling licenses to make some of that back.

Except that's not how it worked. While they had an ES in mind, the actual size doesn't get listed till weeks after. Also, at that stage, nothing has been made and as for filling the cancelled orders, that's what waitlists are for.

they could be American made. But its easier for Americans to sit at home and draw unemployment and do nothing rather than take a lower paying job.
Americans would jack the paint jobs up even worse than the Chinese factories too.

Sideshow should set aside 20 from the ES of each piece and have them painted by pro's and sell them as an Elite edition at a higher price.
Or maybe even ship them randomly kinda like a chase variant..... :monkey1

I just got wood reading that sentence.

I like this idea.

That would be sweet! I'd rather pay the extra $ for a better paint job.
Maybe Sideshow should sell part of the run in kit form so, we can have our own painters paint them.

Theory...If they were to charge $200 over retail, for one of their artists to paint your statue/Comiquette/whatnot, you would pay that?
