it's crazy, Hot Toys stuff spikes a couple months after their releases on the after-market. it's nuts...

that's the point. it increases in value. if you don't get them at the pre-order level then be prepaired to pay more. I like the fact that the figures I get go UP in value. so if I had to sell them :monkey2 :monkey2 I would make a profit. :D

Personally, if I could choose I would probably like figures to just hold their purchase value (not go up or down). If they go down like the majority of Sideshow figures, you feel like a dope for buying them when they first came out, and if they go up you feel like a dope if you don't buy them when they first come out.

i sold mine very early back in february. DAMNNN. it was sold only for $165

i should have wait and could have make extra 100-150 bucks. this is mental

Word! a couple months ago these were going for just a little over cost. Popularity has really struck in the last few months

Seems like an easy way to pay for your hobby...buy 2-3, keep one, sell the other(s) later. I mean If HT P2 elder goes for only $250 now, you clear an easy $100 on the pre-order price, what, 3-4 mos after it hits shelves.

Now if only I can sell that argument to my wife!

The problem with that is that they don't all go up in value, at least not to that degree. The predator figures have been pretty consistent, but most of the Alien figures (not counting the marines) don't seem to have gone up in the same way, and neither have the POTC figures. You can still buy most of the POTC figures from online stores for under retail. Hot Toys stuff doesn't plummet in value like most Sideshow figures, but it doesn't all skyrocket either. So my hunch is that your profits would tend to even out over time. And frankly I don't really want to see a large number of people trying this, since supply of these figures is constrained enough as it is.

Yeah, that's true about the aliens...you just have to play it. Many of their military figures jump up as well...but then again, some don't. Just like investing. I never buy the potc stuff.
