I was wondering where the line is between rightfully dissatisfied and being anal. Ok so, say you get a statue from Sideshow and everything is in tip-top shape except for one thing. Maybe it has a paint smudge or the tiniest chip. Do you return it or live with it?

Depends on the statue and where the flaw is.

Anal = Whining about a particular flaw completely out of proportion to the cost of a piece.

So far I've just lived with the little flaws, but that's partly because I'm too busy (read as lazy) to deal with returning it etc.

I'm the type of toy collector who will look at the same figures in the aisle to pick the one with the best paint-job. If I buy multiples, I open the one that looks to have the worse paint-job out of them all.

I usually buy multiples of what I like because I've always been like that, even before I got into 1:6 scale figures. Needless to say, now it can be pretty expensive. :monkey2

I bet dude, you must have it tough. Do you ever buy multiple PFs or statues? This could get way out of control really fast.

For me to go through the hassle of boxing it back up and returning it, something would have to be broken.

it all depends with me, when its 1/6th i usualy dont mind flaws, but a good example was my t-1000 it had a paint chip on the nose, wasnt a prob i paint figures, i wouldnt mind, but i undressed him to fix his shirt and his body was all loose and badly assembled, i wouldnt have returned if it was just the chip, so realy it all depends.

It depends on the price, to a point. Like if you get something that you spent quite a bit of money on, you want it to be near perfect. Personally, if it's only a little paint mark or something I can live with that.

Well, for me it depends on how much you paid. For $350, I feel it's justified if you get a little anal.

(Please read that sentence in the proper context, thank you very much.)

My Lurtz had a piece broken off the base. It was not that major, but on an expensive item I am going to take advantage of Sideshow's satisfaction guarantee and get him replaced so that I am completely happy with it. On a 12" figure, I will be more forgiving. But the more I pay, the higher my standards. Grievous was another one that I had replaced because some pieces had broken off. Had it been $40, I would have glued it back together myself. For $450, I want it to arrive in one piece and not have clumsy glue repair seams.

I think that my Yoda bust will be the most expensive Sideshow item yet for me, so you can bet that I am going to be pretty anal if anything is less than perfect.

But it also depends on whether or not I expect to see an improvement if I return it. Sending my Frodo back will not get me a different paint job on the mouth or toes, because that was just the way they all got painted. But if I had a brown paint smudge on the sword I would definitely get it replaced.

My original post has been destroyed.....as usual...* sigh *

Either that or he'd just enjoy it :emperor

Another interesting quote from Shai Hulud is coming....

''SOMETIMES I FORCE MY WOMEN TO TOSS MY SALAD.''

high quality collectibles demand higher quality standards. for what you pay if there is any doubt that it is not 100% you have every right to demand it to be fixed/replaced---especially if the company advertises the satisfaction guarantee.
