Just curious as to what people define as a collectible and what people do not define as a collectible.

For example if the Commander Cody 1/6 figure is a collectible why isn't a Hasbro Cody figure?

I have my terms and standards, just curious to see if the match up on here. :)

Collectibles can vary from Stamps to hot rod cars. Hasbro cody figure probably is a collectible to someone out there. It obviously wouldnt see a return if sold but if your going into the investment side of things then i guess in the figure or statue world its a no brainer.

The pieces that are highly detailed and have less of an edition size. For me its about the things i loved growing up. and now they capture them in so many forms its more like it has become what "not to get" as oppose to "what do i get'' ............If its displayed in a cabinet or sits on ur shelf, If you love it, Cant and wont sell it, moved mountains to obtain it. ITS A COLLECTABLE!! :lol

If i was to define what is NOT a collectable. I would have to go with the furniture, shelves, and cabinets that hold my collectables .....Lmao.....

any time I want to justify buying something I decide it is a collectible.

Well the new limited edition statues now are not collectibles in my opinion. They should rename it unlimited editions. Lol

According to the Oxford Dictionary:
Collectible -
1. Adj. - worth collecting; of interest to a collector
2. Adj. - able to be collected
3. N. - an item valued and sought by collectors

So therefore, if an item is of interest to a collector, can be collected, or is sought after by a collector, it's a collectible.

Yeah, that's what I would define as a collectible.

Agreed
I collect drummer boy quarters...just for the hell of it. It's exciting when I see one given to me as change cuz it happens so seldom. I even have friends looking out for me.

I guess anything can be a collectible to someone.

To me it's something that's expertly & beautifully made, limited to a certain smallish number to make it that extra bit special from other similar things and uniquly one-of-kind unto itself.

Any toy/statue that I collect really. My collection consist of Sideshow/Hot Toys to some Mattel/Hasbro toys. So, to me at least it is just what I find interesting/cool looking.
