Is everyone just assuming Wolverine is gonna be crap or has there already been some great offense unveiled that predetermines that it in fact will be crap.

None of them really. I'm sort of sick of these superhero movies. Same crap, different year. It's not like we haven't seen movies about those three characters already. It'll all be over before you know it and the hype will be washed away.

I don't really care about The Wolverine. I mean I love the character and I think Hugh Jackman always does a good job, but, ehhhh.

Iron Man III? The selling point seems to be new suits and Tony losing ****. That doesn't really interest me.

Man of Steel I guess, but I can already see how that's playing out. "EVERYTHING YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW ABOUT SUPERMAN . . . FORGET IT, WE'RE TURNING IT ON IT'S HEAD, CHANGING IT UP for modern times . . . gonna go back to him being sent as a baby, crash landing in Kansas, being raised in America but everything will be explained and different!"

The only thing I'm looking forward to is how they'll deal with the Clark Kent situation considering he seems to extinguish danger and disasters in normal, Kent form. Then there's the fact that he won't have glasses or whatever. People won't recognize his face? Unless they're going to lose the secret identity thing completely . . .

Jackman is great to watch, but Wolverine beyond the Weapon X creation stuff just isn't that interesting of a character. I don't understand how he became so popular.

I'm not more interested because his last 2 movies (X3 and Wolvie: Origins) have sucked. I know there is a different creative team here, but I'm going to be skeptical until they prove me wrong--same with Snyder's Superman.

Personally, I love the character of Wolverine as he was portrayed in the comics in the '70s and '80s anyway. He was very distinctive from all the other comic characters out there up until the onslaught of "edgy, dark, loner" types in the 1990s that were really just derivative versions of Wolverine. He is probably my favorite Marvel character. And Jackman sometimes channels that, but more often is too toned down and friendly/agreeable with everyone. I also hate that he doesn't wear a mask or more classic suit, but at this point I see that isn't going to happen until, maybe, a reboot of the character/franchise.

MOS > Ironman 3 > Wolverine for me.

I hope Wolverine surprises everyone because I like his character and Jackman's portrayal more than any of the Avengers.

Man of Steel is making me very interested in Superman for the first time.

I like pretty much everything I've seen of the movie so far. A much more serious tone, as it should be, the new suit (and Jorel's), and Henry Cavill just has that Superman look.

Yea I think if RDJ gets recast, no one is going to care about Iron Man. And the first Iron Man flick is still the best Marvel movie.

Yea, for me, it's the best Comic movie period. Slightly edging out Batman Begins. Begins got the public to take comic movies serious but IM balanced the fun and serious perfectly.
Completely agree. I've always thought it was the most well-made comic book/superhero movie.

Man of Steel for me all the way. New trailer has me stoked.

I saw IM3 when it was titled Avengers. Pluss i'm still peeved about them casting Ben Kingsley(a fine actor, but not asian) as the Mandarin. That alone might keep me from seeing it in theatres.

The Wolverine looks intriguing. And it can't be worse the Origins, so I'm in for that one.

I think the most "well made" comic movie is probably Batman Begins. My personal favorite is probably X2.

If you're takling about a techincal standpoint, I would disagree, there are times where it's quite disjointed, Nolan had a hard time with some of the action, especially the Tumbler chase.

He definately got the hang of it by TDK but the big chase also becomes pretty disjointed when he starts to film the batpod sequences. He's racing across the street than in the very next shot he's in an alley. Begins doesn't have the overall pacing issues of TDK though.

X2s not even my top 5, maybe top 10 though.

I'm really looking forward to seeing them all but if i had to pick a order it would be IM3 (obviously :lol), MOS and Wolverine.

To me, Begins most effectively conveys its story. And in that sense, the technical direction and cinematography are important, but it's also about getting the right actors in the right roles and really creating the most effective dramatic yarn. Dark Knight was also exceptional of course, and I can see those two as kind of a toss up.

X2 best embodied the spirit of Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne era X-Men of all those films, and that is one of my favorite comic runs ever, so it is tops for me. But like you were saying earlier, if you don't know or care about the source material then I can see how you might not care for what is going on with the X-Men, or many/most comic movies for that matter. These usually aren't high art, but pulp tales invoking nostalgia from those who knew the material way on back.

MOS
WOLVERINE
Im3

In that order

Is everyone just assuming Wolverine is gonna be crap or has there already been some great offense unveiled that predetermines that it in fact will be crap.

Pretty much. Sour tastes left over from X3 and Origins are leading people to assume it'll be crap

I hope Wolverine surprises everyone because I like his character and Jackman's portrayal more than any of the Avengers.

:exactly: :hi5:

Poor Wolverine.

I was with you 1000% til you got to Wolvie wearing a mask or classic suit. I'm always apprehensive about comic book suits since they are so easy to get wrong. Although I must admit most of the good comic book movies have been getting it right in recent years. But I also see that there's no need for Wolvie to wear a costume or mask since he's not a "hero" and doesn't need a secret identity because he's a loner anyway.

:exactly: Agree!

I was looking forward to Iron Man 3 because I've thoroughly enjoyed the previous 2. I am optimistic because of Shane Black and what I have seen so far looks great!

Wolverine is at the bottom of my list because X3 and Origins were so bad, even though I think Jackman is great as Logan. Although I do agree with karamazov that he's too nice and too much of a team player in the movies. But THAT is mostly the case in X3 and Origins, which probably adds to why they were so bad. I am a little hopeful of James Mangold since I LOVE 3:10 to Yuma, and Knight and Day was not a total disaster.

MOS was number 2 for me, but after seeing the last trailer, it has shot up to #1. I think my anticipation also has to do with the fact that there hasn't been a good Superman movie in soooo long. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it comes out. High hopes. I hope it delivers.
