Is everyone just assuming Wolverine is gonna be crap or has there already been some great offense unveiled that predetermines that it in fact will be crap.

I'm not more interested because his last 2 movies (X3 and Wolvie: Origins) have sucked. I know there is a different creative team here, but I'm going to be skeptical until they prove me wrong--same with Snyder's Superman.Jackman is great to watch, but Wolverine beyond the Weapon X creation stuff just isn't that interesting of a character. I don't understand how he became so popular.
Yea I think if RDJ gets recast, no one is going to care about Iron Man. And the first Iron Man flick is still the best Marvel movie.
Completely agree. I've always thought it was the most well-made comic book/superhero movie.Yea, for me, it's the best Comic movie period. Slightly edging out Batman Begins. Begins got the public to take comic movies serious but IM balanced the fun and serious perfectly.
I think the most "well made" comic movie is probably Batman Begins. My personal favorite is probably X2.
To me, Begins most effectively conveys its story. And in that sense, the technical direction and cinematography are important, but it's also about getting the right actors in the right roles and really creating the most effective dramatic yarn. Dark Knight was also exceptional of course, and I can see those two as kind of a toss up.If you're takling about a techincal standpoint, I would disagree, there are times where it's quite disjointed, Nolan had a hard time with some of the action, especially the Tumbler chase.

I hope Wolverine surprises everyone because I like his character and Jackman's portrayal more than any of the Avengers.
Poor Wolverine.

Personally, I love the character of Wolverine as he was portrayed in the comics in the '70s and '80s anyway. He was very distinctive from all the other comic characters out there up until the onslaught of "edgy, dark, loner" types in the 1990s that were really just derivative versions of Wolverine. He is probably my favorite Marvel character. And Jackman sometimes channels that, but more often is too toned down and friendly/agreeable with everyone. I also hate that he doesn't wear a mask or more classic suit, but at this point I see that isn't going to happen until, maybe, a reboot of the character/franchise.

X2 best embodied the spirit of Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne era X-Men of all those films, and that is one of my favorite comic runs ever, so it is tops for me. But like you were saying earlier, if you don't know or care about the source material then I can see how you might not care for what is going on with the X-Men, or many/most comic movies for that matter. These usually aren't high art, but pulp tales invoking nostalgia from those who knew the material way on back.
