Excuse me while I go create two more board accounts so I can give Fred two more votes... :monkey3 Oh, except I failed to notice the poll is closed... :whip

I'm in if the sculpt is good. If there's a "next time", maybe we can vote for a sculpt we don't have at all! (coughs *Fred* coughs) :lol :peace

I’m keen on any new characters (or an Eliza-Dukshu-as Faith or Alyson Hannigan as Willow)--I don’t think I’d go for Angel #5 (or is it 6?). That said…

Huh. Where’s Anya??? No love for the former wisecracking vengeance demon? I’m guessing this isn’t an Angel-only list since Faith’s on here. Is this poll specifically for heads you’re thinking of making, HL2?

A bit off-topic, but I honestly don’t think I’d participate in any group commission without seeing the final product first. Call me cheap or picky or whatever but I would balk at putting money down to commission a sculptor or pre-paying what is often the price of a whole figure for something I couldn’t walk away from if the end product wasn’t what I wanted. I like the way Spenser handled the Wesley head, which is why I did my Gunn head the way I did, too. Short of a sculptor just creating their own pattern on their own time and dime then offering it for sale as Spenser did for Wesley and I did for Gunn then letting the free market have at it, it seems to me that these types of drumming up interest in a commission threads rarely end up being anything more than collective wishful thinking out loud.

The advantage of the free market approach described above is that if you don’t like the headsculpt, you can wait for a better one to come along (or make one yourself, honestly). The burden is on the artist or their agent, not the buyers, to front the development costs. Same thing with the costuming/body selection, etc. The overall cost of scratchbuilding your own figure starting with the headsculpt would be less pricey (and time-consuming and stressful what with having to coordinate everything) than trying the daunting task of commissioning a whole figure. Like the head? Buy the head! If you don’t have one already, buy the body, bash/make/commission/buy the clothes, weapons, etc. BAM! BAM! BAM! You’re done.

If we (or the collective rest of you, honestly, cause I don't think I'd participate) really want to work out a group commission on a whole figure or even a headsculpt or outfit, I think it would be easiest if one person with deep pockets and the conviction/obsession to see the character happen do what WST did for the first Dr Who heads he had Ada make, or what Wofford did with Andy’s fantastic Christian Bale sculpt. Work out a commission, pay the artist for the blank, then sell copies to the rest of the group to offset the initial cost. That way seems to have the best success rate of actually getting done. And if you happen to have spares after your committed group members take their heads at cost (and if I like the final product), I’d be willing to fork over good Johnny-come-lately money so you’d even make a profit.

Anyway--my 2 cents.

Getting back to the thread at hand and these particular heads, I didn't vote, but I would've for a Fred if polling was still open. Faith or Fred, though, I'd want to see some wig options with those two characters.

I agree with Binky. I've seen a lot of mediocre sculpts (my own included) and very few fantastic ones that are unmistakably the subject at hand. For that matter there are sculpts like Eliza and Allyson that don't really capture the actor. Meanwhile I will keep working on my own skills because I will eventually attempt the figures of these two lines that haven't been represented, and if the opportunity arises like Spenser's Wesley or Binky's Gunn and Willow figures that I am happy with I will gladly purchase them.

Well I'm willing to participate in a group commsion for Faith, though since Fred lost by a single vote I dont see why we dont just approach the idea of getting both done. For anyone who wants both or just one or the other its win win.

And while I agree that the idea of a more free market would preferable where you can see the final sculpt before you commit one way or another, the only way that would happen is if a sculptor was willing to put the time in with no garuanteeed sales. Unless they are a fan of the show I dont see it happening that way for all the charcaters there are out there.

Hopefully we'll actually see a Faith Sculpt out of this.

I actually am not going to be purchasing anymore unless Trevor, Wayne or sideshow does the releases. Actually, I may stick soley with sideshow because even tho some of you don't mind, I do like having the boxes, stands etc come with it. I think with my satsu, and my gunn, that'll be all. Unless there is something that just blows me away.

BG, I don't blame you. Trevor and Wayne are two of the guys whose work I'd be most willing to preorder on reputation alone. There are very few sculptors whose work I like enough to think about joining a preorder/commission, and of those sculptors, I prefer they know the subject—not necessarily be a fan, too, though that would be ideal, but have some familiarity with the character/actor so they’re not working off just stills.

I haven’t been following that closely, but WST’s way of showing in-progress pics from Ada might be a good compromise for building up a group commitment before finalizing the sculpt, if you find an artist willing to do that. She’s a really really fast sculptor, tho, and one who seems pretty receptive to changing her work in response to criticism. That’s not a common trait among any profession. Still, I find her sculpts are hit and miss as she seems to work purely off stills.

Anzik, I think you’re being too modest. Your pictures are fuzzy, but I’d be interested in Clem and that ubervamp if you get them to the stage of making copies.

Don't get me wrong B, I love my Gunn. You did a great job!!! I am very thankful.

And I am with you on the Clem and Ubervamp. Think we could get a commision going on em Anzik?

I have to find a better way to cast Clem's ears, since they never seem to come out right and I need to adjust the back of Uber's head a little before I can offer any for sale.
AND I'm working on casting the excess arm skin too.
