Does it matter really? Certainly the sculptor should get credit, but so should everyone else involved. It's a sad thing to see how fan reaction is changing the sculpting arena. Some artist are getting a free pass on lackluster work just because they have a fan base that thinks everything they do is the best in the industry. Maybe I'm different than most but my first and only consideration in buying a statue or figure is how does it look compared to the source material, not who sculpted it. Certainly all parties involved should get credit for their efforts, but I think a piece should be judged first on it's merits as a piece of art. A lot of people will jump on a thread and say a piece is great solely based on who sculpted it, without judging the work first. Personally I like to see things initially without knowing who sculpted it, but like I said, I'm obviously different from most.

BS. I judge a sculpt by its looks alone, and I don't care if it was sculpted
by Sir Slappy McSpanksalot, as long as the end result LOOKS good. Wanting
to know the sculptor's name is just neat information for we buyers, but rest
assured that if the sculpt was sub-par in quality, it would be noted here no
matter who sculpted it. Conversely if a new sculptor knocked one out of the
park it would also be noted. Having the sculptor (or sculptors) names just
provides history and provenance to the piece. Nothing more, nothing less.

Who is that?

Never heard of him. Called SS customer service and asked who sculpted it. The CSR didn't know, put me on hold, and came back with the name Yeager. (She didn't know the first name)...Yeager...meister????? No wonder CS was closed this afternoon!! PARTY TIME FRIDAYS!!!! :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

Yeager is probably Jeff Yeager. He was sculpting garage kits long before a lot of sculptors working today even got started. He is also an actor. The fact that nobody knows who this is tells me all I need to know about what folks around here know about sculpting and sculptors. Why they have him sculpting superheroes is baffling as well. Yeager is very skilled at likenesses.

Okay I don't spend much time on here, but I have read many post about what's lacking in certain pieces. Once the sculptor is revealed it's always "I'm sure if Sir Slappy McSpanksalot is working on it everything will be alright" which is BS, because then people convince themselves it will be good regardless of weither or not it actually looks good. Personally I'm tired of being offered products that I'm suppose to accept as being the best they can be just because "flavor of the moment" sculpted it.

I'm here constantly:eek: and I've never seen a discussion like that. Care to reference one?

You strike me as being a snob. Not everyone knows every sculptor, artist, muscian, architect, conductor, working in the world of art. Just because I have not heard of Mr. Yeager does not mean I know nothing of what i talk about.

Regarding having sculpting superheroes was it not the same in the Renaissances. Were not the artists of that time superheroes. If you have no interest in who sculpted what why do you bother posting in this section or this forum for that matter.

Some of us on here actually get on well with the "superheroe sculptors" you talk off. Regardless of who they are the critiquing is from me anyway always fair and balanced. I am not afraid to tell a sculptor he has gone wrong somewhere on a piece but am equally unafraid to give praise where it is due.

Yeah, it's not like that at all, if a sculpt is awesome it doesn't matter who did it. I don't buy my stuff based on who the sculptor or 'flavor of the month', I buy it if it looks good.

This is true. You will find the good pieces are created time and time again by familiar and well known artists. I never looked or cared about the artist until recently. Then I looked back and found several different lines and pieces in different media were done by the same artists. Made me appreciate those pieces more but I still got them because I liked them.

Was it because their forum name was 'Why Are You Hatin'?'

I think they came here with the intention to rustle some feathers. :maul
