Surprise....Surprise!!!

I was pleasantly surprised to find a gift card from Sideshow in my Fellowship of the Ring dvd....Thanks Sideshow!!!

ah... looks like just the same thing with the extended set then. although the price difference wasn't a lot with that, you still would pay more if you buy the set instead of buying the 3 movies separately.

to summarise, we are paying extra for the cardboard slip case!

Holy Crap...it was worth $25....I can't wait to open my other dvd's!!!!

It looks like the giftcards are random. I only found one in the Fellowship case.

It's still an awesome surprise!!!

Just bought the Fellowship for now. Gonna give the docu a test drive to see if I want to plunk down more money. So far, the package is fairly bare-bones. No new/different artwork from previous sets. No leaflet/brochure to show contents. The clear plastic cover is kinda nice though. :D I opened the package -- $25 SS gift card. Verrrry nice!

Now, the question is: terms & conditions on SS site says one card only can be used per promotion. I got 1 at SDCC (haven't used yet). Can anyone tell me what the different promotions are? I must've missed the announcements on SS site.

I believe that means that only one card can be used at a time on one item (no mutiple cards for the same purchase). At least that's what I recall from the Sideshow Terms and conditions. And the cards can only be used on certain items as well.

This reminds me I still have a $75 and a $10 card to use up on items. Hmmm what to buy? What to buy?

I picked up all 3 at Best Buy and they did match the price Target had for me.
I just watched Fellowship and enjoyed it very much.

I assume you're referring to enjoying the documentary and not FOTR the movie at this point right?

Target is going to be selling them for $16.99 each, which will get you the whole set for $51 plus tax. Cheaper than going through Amazon, for those who are interested.

That's where I found mine, or should I say they found me --- in a moment of weakness.

What exactly did you enjoy? Was there anything you didn't enjoy? Is it interesting? boring? value for money?

TC :duh:duh:duh

I liked the fact that it was raw footage and really gave you that feeling of being there on set. As far as what I would have changed is I would have liked to see more of a point of view of the actors (I love to see everyone laughing and goofing around) and less of actually working on the movie (we get all of that in the EE). I would say the documentary is very similar to what we have on the EE dvd's (even a few clips were on the EE). And overall value of money it really depends. Someone who doesn't have both versions of the film is getting a steal with this set because you get both versions on one disc plus the documentary. But most LOTR fans already have both versions so it's really all about are you willing to spend $16 on the documentary.

It's one card per person, per promotion... the SDCC cards count as one promotion, and the ones in the New Line FOTR DVD count as a different one. It all depends on the first set of letters/numbers in your code (comic-con cards all began with something like CC1) . So Wetanut, you're all clear to use the one from the FOTR dvd! But CA, you will only be able to use one of yours from the Con (I would make that the $75 if I were you ;))

Darnnit! Hmmm now I need to give this pesky $10 one away. Oh well at least $75 is a good one hehe. Thanks for the clarification Dusty!

I just bought the ROTK for $15.99 from Fry's and just over it, no gift card inside, I wonder how limited edition it is, maybe only for 8/29/06. The clear view kind of look nice, I might as well go ahead to get the other two from target. By the way I have all three movie in gift set and the theatrical two dice one, this will be the third set I have for Lord Of The Rings movies.
