Also finished watching all 3 of the documentaries. In all honesty, if you like structure to your viewing pleasure, these are not for you. As noted by others, this is definitely a "home movie" feel. There are themes/section chunks shown througout, but they don't go into much depth.

There are a few sections or pieces of them that were already used for the EEs. I had hoped that there would be an entire section of at least 1/2 - 1 hour long just on bloopers or filmed but deleted scenes. There are some, but they're interwoven seemingly indiscriminately throughout. There's a lot of emphasis on the tech aspects (and well-deserved), but I would have preferred a lot more footage of the actors' perspectives.

Don't get me wrong....I enjoyed them as they are. But am still hungry for the bloopers, deleted scenes, etc. I guess we'll have to wait for PJ's uber-super-duper complete set to see any of that (IF that ever happens).

I finished the ROTK doc last night, I don't want to spoil it but watch closely at about 12:18 .... way too funny! :rotfl :lol

I'm gonna try and go get these later today I believe. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a SS GC.

I tried, I really tried to resist. But....

Alas, he who hesitates is lost as when I got around to not being able to resist temptation, Amazon had raised their prices. Guess the word got around about the gift cards as Fellowship... was more expensive than the other two.

The boxed set went up a little bit also. But we all want to see if we are lucky with the single don't we.

Thanks to those who have give reviews/opinions on the documentary. They did help me make up my mind.

Yeah, after hearing the Docs where really nice I bought them today but not SS GC for me. :(

funny... why would these ppl want to pay over retail for these when it is available from shops and amazon?

Because people are stupid.

I witched all three DVD extra, they all good, I like them, and the picture is some how better then the earlier two disc SE edition and four disc limited edition, it is more clear and sharper.:chew

Err.. whoa was just checking Amazon and was surprised to see that the price has dropped for the boxed set.

Was $61.99 all the way up to release, and then I believe it went up a little bit, and now it is $55.87.

Those of you who actually bought these new DVDs, do you think they're worth the extra money? I am still on the edge and would like some opinions about this version.

I think so, but I am a sucker for the behind the scenes, and this is far more raw and unpolished. At $17, I am not too sure you can lose.

What I'd like to know is if that outtake of Viggo Mortensen in Return of the King is in there.

It's after he says "For Frodo..." and after he turns he has an un Uzi. He screams and fires off quite a few rounds. I've heard about this being shown by Peter Jackson to a crowd of people, I think at SXSW or something, from a reel of outtakes and bloopers.

Wow, that sounds really funny!

.... it's not there. :monkey2

Yep, Amazon did lower the price for the boxed edition. But the price is the same for the individual films. Fellowship is almost $2 more than the other two. Hmmm must be they know there are hopefuls looking for that Sideshow Gift Card.

Are most who have bought watching the film/s as welll as the documentary?

Right now I'm listening to the books on CD (for the 3rd time at least). Gandalf just saved Theoden from Grima. Great listening.

I watched a little of the FOTR Doc last night. Sometime in the near future I'll watch all 3 in one day the docs that is. I've got plans to watch all 3 EE with Rumi for a little Missouri/Kansas get together come Dec.
