Honda maybe manufacture here but the design is still japanese. Meaning the parts are still better, design is better and cars last longer.
example.

Honda will spend the money on a metal part in your engine.

GM/Chev/ford will make a plastic part (same part) as honda to save 0.24cents.. to find out later from the consumer it melted, in under 3 years.

Thats the issue they have right now handing over 24Billion when the gov knows the manufacture make crap cars...

Anyways i think SS is doing the right thing anyways talking to HT.

My family has always owned GM cars, and right now I own a Chrysler and my mother owns a 10 year old Ford. We've never had any problems with our vehicles. I think most cars are crap compared to years ago, no matter who makes them. None are perfect.

Though HT makes great figures, China is trying very hard to kill us in other ways. :lol

i definitely think it has to do with management and overall attitude of the company also. if you consider that some companies such as mcfarlane or neca also produces in china too and all the figures are really well done. sure they dont have as much articulation, but the paintwork and assembly is really nice. i've seen a lot of figures that are nicely done and the company is in the US so it has to be more than living across the street from the factory. :p

I've seen a varied range of quality from NECA...from figures that are well done to figures that are crap. Perhaps it has to go with a change in the factories or a quality change by management...who knows?

This ultimately happened to SOTA as well. They're first few rounds of Street Fighter were top notch...they were forced to change factories and the newer factory could just not reach the quality that the original one did.

The best stuff being designed in the west are high end statues (PFs, Cinemaquettes, 1:1s) and props (eFX). Although scale modeling is dominated by the East, you have to give it to MR/ eFX for making the most ambitious studio scale SW models.

Jerry's Street Fighter statues blow away anything that has ever come from Japan, in terms of their high-ended-ness. Japan's take on statues is different than in the US for some reason. For them it's more about PVC and garage kits, rather than polystone and mixed media. Can anyone elaborate?

I think there's a decent talent pool in the US trained in "classical" sculpture, but as it has been said, collectibles are not respected enough in this country.
