My daughter just started kindergarten at a Tradition Academy and they have a strict uniform and tuck in policy. I for one think it is great. I buy plain red, white or blue shirts and khaki or blue bottoms. No name brand expensive crap, no arguing about what she wants to wear in the morning, and there is no difference in appearance between the rest of the kids. You can get most of the items cheap from big box stores and just stock up on like ten of each and they will last you all year. I remember all the crap that kids used to wear when I went to school and I wouldn't have minded at all wearing specific limited color/style clothes.

I think "uniforms" are a good idea. I know kids want to where whatever they want but if it makes it safer I'm all for it. Besides, they can where whatever they want anytime after school. Just think of it as preparation for their job at McDonalds.:D

Uniforms are the standard in the UK. I had to wear 18c style winter and summer uniforms and we were proud of it. Feel a bit bad about how much of a snob i was when i was younger but the even richer kids looked down on us. Damn Edinburgh politics!

One of my students is a warrants officer in Philly and he was telling me about this flexible blade they (criminals) carry in the hem of their pants and the they hold it in such a way to stiffen it and slice the crap out of their victim.
