Why so many German WWII figures ?

Preface: thread isn't a commentary about how these should not be made because they were bad people....I am a history buff, so can appreciate these things from that perspective, I just can't help but notice there seems to be a preponderance of WWII German figures compared to the allies.

I've also bought a number of these also, so again I'm not a hater. Just curious.

Because - strictly from an aesthetic perspective - German forces were cooler and more stylish, I would hazard.

I can kind of understand the soldiers being made for scene creating purposes (think of the green army men days). The bigger question is, why are so many Adolf figures being made (and his upper echelon of cronies) and who the hell are buying them?

I dont really see a swathe of Hitler figures being made. I know Dragon made a Hitler figure once, maybe there are more out there? I thinks its mainly history buffs and people like that buying them, I doubt any have an affinity with National Socialism. Its just an interesting time in history, where a whole nation decided to crash and burn under an insane ideology.

I wonder what kind of figures will be made from our era? Old men in suits and fat guys in tactical gear?

The bottom line answer is... the bottom line. They sell and they sell well, surprisingly, in larger numbers in Asia.

As for the reasons that the buyer may have for purchasing them, they are varied and some already have been touched upon in this thread:

1) Historical significance.
2) Tangent interests. (For example, I'm a big military aviation nut and the "Marseille" and "Galland" figures were must-haves, for me.)
3) Personal connections. (perhaps an ancestor fought with or against them at a significantly historical battle.)
4) Incredibly sharp looking uniforms. (If not mistaken, some of the uniforms were designed by Hugo Boss).

Well from a business prospective the fact is they sell very well.
Why they sell so well is the question - I for one love history with ww2 being "my" subject.
I personally find studying what the enemy did and how they done it very interesting indeed. Even learning about the Holocaust - the worst crime in the history of mankind - and the levels that man can stoop to in the name of belief and hatred is truly shocking - but it happened!
Any collector buying the hieracy will be purchasing a figure that represents someone that ultimately was connected in this cime (if only by knowledge) - I can easily see why some people would not touch such figures.
For myself i am interested in all aspects of the conflict - including the darker side for to ignore it is to forget about it.
Collecting all these figures - including Allied forces - is a great learning tool through knowledge of uniform, insignia, equipment, weapons, key individuals and so on....
I also collect for my own interest - no one else's - a private collection - and in no way affiliated in any politcal belief or creed - just a high interest in the Second World War.

Not sure about "designed" but defo manufactured them through forced labour. Boss himself was a member of the Party through till the end.

I suppose it's easy to mass produce as well. You have the basic uniform to which you add the rank. You only really have to worry about the sculpt then. Unless they're supposed to be historical you can use who you want pretty much.

Yeah I think Hugo Boss manufactured the black SS uniforms. I forgot about 3reich or 3R, I think they are part of DID. They have made a lot of Nazi figures including SS.
Here is an example, its like one of those SS Honor guards who protected Hitler.

Looks a nice figure, if you can put the subject matter to one side I guess.

Yeah, you can be interested in something without glorifying it. Most of human history is littered with examples of wickedness and depravity, not just in times or war either, thats just sometimes the nature and psyche of humanity.

DiD released a couple of different versions as well what was basically a re-release, maybe close to ten years ago now. I was tempted but realised what a vibe-killer it'd be on the shelf, even in the context of a line of historical WW2 leaders. Would've been an easy flip tho, their value went up by around 500% as soon as they sold out.
