Why "Wolf" alien?

You fine folks are always calling the predator from AVPR the "Wolf" predator. I've been try to find out why, but searches don't exactly reveal anything.

The Pred/Alien expertise here is amazing, so I direct my question here. Is the Wolf name in reference to Mr. Wolf from Pulp Fiction or did I miss something? It makes sense that he is sent in to "clean up" the mess, so I get (and like) the reference.

Another question. Why do you guys think only one Predator was sent in to clean up the mess? That was really the only question the movie left me asking. Well, that and one other...AVP3??

Yes it was a reference to the Wolf in Pulp Fiction. If you think about it the predator was acting like a cleaner. Harvey also played another cleaner in the movie Point of No Return.

Why was he alone?

I guess cos he was the only one that volunteered (like a "Lone Wolf") or he's the one that does the jobs that nobedy else wants to do. Like cleaning the toilet.

They could also have called him "Cobra" like Stallone in the movie of the same name - he was a specialist that did the jobs that nobody wanted too.

I guess his doing the job alone kinda reinforces the fact that these Predators are just bad-a$$ dudes.

BUT think about this, if as many Predators were fighting/hunting in Predator or Pred 2 as there were Aliens killed in Alien/Aliens, would they have succeeded? Aliens conquer by sheer numbers.

only if the people they're fighting are dumber than Arnold and weaker than Danny Glover.

except when there's just 1 and the movie isn't made by a director who confused Alien with Starship Troopers.

...and wasn't the premise of the original Dark Horse comics that the Predators pretty much 'breed' (for lack of a better term) the Aliens, as they are their ultimate challenge? And didn't AvP the movie set up practically the same scenario?

Aliens are badass and all, but if they're used by an entire race to 'train' their young, the superior being is the Predator. - Excluding the three dead dorks in AvP.
