Wielding Real Lightsabers - Photos of figures with CCFL Sabers

I like how darth mauls light goes all the way to the end of the saber and other seem to have about a 1/4" gap from CCFL to end of plastic. Any reason why??

Can someone who has routed the wires for their SS darth tell best way to route wire from hand to converter? Did you go inside the sleeve or just kind of tuck up along the outside of his arm?

There's some dead glass at the tips of all CCFL lamps (only the hollow part of the lamp lights up), but in person the lack of glow at the very end is less pronounced than in photos.
