Great Sculpt,

Gonna go watch that film right now, and salute my fallen brothers

Great sculpt,

Gonna go watch some porn right now and salute all the great women of this world.

Whoa!!! De-ja-vu :google I could have sworn this topic have been talked about already  But, anyway.....great sculpt. Will SS make something like this?? Do you mean...Tom Hanks as he was in Saving Ryan's Private?? Hmmm....Probably not. But will they make a sculpt to look like Tom Hanks....I really hope so... BIG

Hey Melvin...Nothing against your posts but you seem to enjoy everything But Sideshow.... This is a Sideshow board by the way...

lol. I aint got nothing against sideshow. I love their products, most of my figures were made by SS...

And it seems like just yesterday he was wearing a dress and hanging out with Peter Scolari{who hasn't gained nearly as much recognition}.

The figure above has a great scuplt and paint job, to look at it is a treat, but not something I want to buy.

Have they made something like this? Yes, I think they have.

Will Sideshow ever make something like this? It is a loaded question, and not elaborated on enough to answer correctly. It is too easy to emphasise different words and end up with differing assumptions.

I would agree with Collector Freak.Nope, they wont ever make something like this. That is because Sideshow are keeping the price down. All the paint ops are done in a factory in downtown big China, donthca forget. That considered, their work is generally very good, but is never going to be to the above standard. So drawing Sideshow into the argument is like comparing ford and ferrari. Two companies, selling what looks to be a similar product, to two different target groups.

I have noticed the trend toward higher end collectibles. I have noticed more people with more money escalate the end product. Is it possible one day Sideshow might make an Ultra exclusive, where an edition size of 100 to 200 figures are expertly rendered, and appropriately priced, up amongst the Hot Toys and Medicom prices that people, are seemingly more and more, ready to pay.

It doesn't matter what the other companies do, Sideshow leads the way. Other companies have their specialties and niche markets, made all the more noticeable by Sideshow bringing attention to the 1/6 scale industry overall. For a little more money they provide a product that stands well above most of the 1/6 scale market. I can't justify buying one Tom Hanks, to give up buying several of what Sideshow has to offer. If I want to spend that kind of money, I buy a PF.

I'm not a Hanks fan, nor have I seen Saving Private Ryan, but the figure looks incredible....no dispute from me on that.

How much did that figure cost/sell for, out of curiosity?

Re: Sideshow is capable of making anything!

Melvin, most of us don't have tons of money to splurge on expensive custom-made figures and I would take SSC's take on any figures. They might sometimes screw up on paint jobs, etc etc but their sculptors are second to none. Plus, their attention-to-detail is simply dazzling. And don't let me start on their PF figures!

Their prices are affordable and I strongly believe it's value for money for the regular or rabid collector. Now that I got to know about SSC, I'm not spending my hard-earned money anywhere else.

That's all I have to say.

It's a stunning custom figure, but not one I would want nore pay the amount the maker wants for it.

Pics of this Arnie Kim Hanks were posted and commented on a couple months ago in the Customs section of this board...

Yeah, it's a great custom sculpt of a $300 plus item and Sideshow doesn't make it. It's not even fair to bring Sideshow into this discussion because they don't make $300-1000 Custom sixth scale figures.

ps I'm sure it's unintentional but maybe you should consider rephrasing your thread titles because they come off as belittling to Sideshow e.g "This is how 12" Anakin should look like", etc.
