I had someone buy an iMac off me via ebay and they didn't bother to pay, got sick of the excuses and after I'd given them enough time I complained and ended up getting my listing fee back -£11, ebay do nothing to help, very poor, I'll never use them to sell again.

This happened to me just recently. An international buyer bought several items from me, and then without notifying me, waited 7 more days until some more auctions ended to buy those as well.

He ended up with 6 or 7 auctions and didn't take into account that all of these items would then bump him into the Priority International range b/c of the weight.

I send him the invoice and he says, "I can't pay it. Relist your items".

So I hit him with an unpaid item claim on every one of them. Kinda' hate to do it but it's going to save someone else a huge pain in the ass on down the road.

Typical Ebay s$%#. :lecture

If you and the buyer agree not to complete the transaction (what I did in a similar situation with a buyer) no one gets negative feedback or a strike. I would offer that alternative, then you can relist or sell the next highest bidder and not loose fees.

But if they won't agree to that, then follow the non-paying bidder procedure. I think if it comes out in your favor they can't leave feedback... but not 100% on that.

I say give them the strike if they don't want to pay after the end of auction. Deadbeat bidders don't deserve any more consideration than that, and I am sure as hell not eating the listing fees for it on a mutual withdrawal. :emperor

I've hit that as well. I listed another batch of auctions after my first set completed. I email the buyer a reminder on the 6th day (I allow 7 days for payment on all my auctions) to let them know I'm still waiting on payment, and then finally they say they're waiting on more of my auctions to end. Is it that difficult to email your seller if you want to wait for more auctions to end?? I've never had an issue with people requesting it, and have asked for sellers to allow me to do the same in the past...but I'm considerate enough to send the request ASAP after the end of auction. I don't wait until after the payment deadline has passed and being prodded until I ask the seller if it's OK.

That's a fair point with the new rules, I hadn't thought of that. But I'm stubborn and not going to eat listing fees for a deadbeat bidder, especially as many deadbeats as I've been getting lately. I'll definitely take it up with my eBay support line if I get a negative feedback as a result from one, and will also ask about the DSR rating.

Even if your DSR dips below 4.3 (or whatever it is), I believe it only prevents selling for a month. For me, that's not a big deal since I typically only host two big rounds of auctions a year for spring and fall cleaning.

I recently had a buyer use "Buy It Now" on a $225 auction. Never responded to any communication, and two weeks later the account was no longer active.

Hooray!

I set all of my 'buy-it-now' auctions to require imemdiate paypal payment in order to complete the transaction after that happened to me once.

If I see a buy it now auction that I'm interested I always pay them that instant that I win the auction... The only reason I might not pay immediately is my wife is motioning me towards the bedroom....:banana:banana:banana

I'm gonna do that from now on, cuz I have had this happen to me twice....:banghead
