If they were changed to plastic the only reason was to cut costs...that's it. Moulding die-cast, having it galvanized and polished is more expensive.

Oh, no, they let those go through - stabbing a man to death with a blunt peg attached to a polystone statue requires such strength and dedication that they probably know no one will bother.

Seriously, though, I don't know whether this is the case here, but such laws do exist.

That's brutal if that's the case. At $2000 a pop they should be striving to ensure these things are worth the cost not going around cost cutting.

Well, that's not far from what SS statues are made of. Polyurethane is basically a type of plastic. They just add some stone dust to it to give it weight and the nice finish.
