I think in the next X-men movie the professor builds a mansion on Thimescera. All those chicks living there so long and making babies out of clay, they must be mutants.

Watching Suicide Squad last night for the first time since Wonder Woman got a big "Okay we get that Superman is dead but why isn't Wonder Woman saving everyone???" from my kids.

My answer: "Uh, because she's off recruiting Aquaman to help her fight threats like the one she is currently ignoring?" Lol

Same deal as the MCU I guess with all those world shattering events that a lot of the Avengers took on by themselves.

This goes to show that filmmakers can never win lol. Add heroes: overstuffed / why cant it just be that heroes movie. Give them that: hey where was such and such during this event lol. Look at spiderman. Add tony oooooooh no its spideys movie!!! Leave it only at spiderman then its heeeey where is to y and the avengers to help[emoji23]

Celestial convergence causes giant alien ship to crash into London, meanwhile...

Yup. Tony literally gets his house dropped on him.

No help from the other Avengers.

Maybe WW was in the kitchen?

Finally got around to seeing this tonight. Overrated in some ways, but it's the first solid movie DC's got in their cinematic universe and that's something. The story is so-so. Typical (and yes, very safe) superhero faire. Reminds me very much of the first Captain America (though Cap has a better villain) and not just because it's a period piece. The two share a surprising amount of plot points. Still, the film is cohesive and engaging -- more than I can say for BVS and SS.

Where the movie truly excels: cinematography and action. The best of the DCEU thus far, putting even style-over-substance Snyder to shame. The scenes on Themyscira alone are worth the price of admission.

Hopefully DC's films will only continue to improve, but I'm quite certain Justice League will be a steaming, generic, monochromatic pile. If anything, the Wonder Woman movie gives me hope for everything to come that isn't helmed by Snyder.

Good review.

I wonder if they'll fight yet another goofy troll that yells in heavy base and has surging electricity shockwaves as its weapon?

Will Lex get out of jail as a skinny bald autistic dude but still wear bad shirts?

Will Momoa just push the others aside and take Wonder Woman right there?

DC finds the secret recipe...
Yep, copy Disney and/or Marvel. That's honestly the best way forward for DC at this point :lol At least, until they can get their act together and learn how to do good movies on their own terms. Wonder Woman very much feels like a Marvel Studios film.

Actually I expect that behavior in China because it's all connected to the state anyways so really no surprise there.

Then again our corporations are pretty much fully connected to the state now aren't they.

But i'll leave that for kara to decide lol
I decide that you are right! Corporations lobby lawmakers; lawmakers act in the financial interests of corporations by curtailing regulations, subsidizing these companies, and limiting the ability of rivals to challenge their privileged positions through various means; corporations make more profits to lobby/bribe lawmakers and/or create jobs in lawmakers' districts that help to keep lawmakers in power. . .wash, rinse, repeat.

In fairness, this happened in comics since the dawn of time. I was surprised reading some Secret Wars stuff recently, where they were actually trying to explain why some were or weren't involved in a given event :lol The issue of X-Men where Phoenix (Rachel Grey) takes on Beyonder was particularly good.

I never understood a criminal who lived in NYC. Why would you even think of stealing anything when there's Spidey, Daredevil, the Avengers, and the Fantastic Four in the area?
