Member Hyperhad at OSW made mention of some 1/6-military-related titles and it had me thinking how much I'd enjoy a coffee-table book on Hot Toys - the company's history, their artists, the design/manufacture process, anecdotes and of course loads of glossy pics of figures and behind-the-scenes shots.

It needn't be Hot Toys, but I offer them as an example because they're obviously the trailblazers of the industry at present. I'd lap up anything about any of the major players though.

Interest or zero interest?

As an aside, a quick search for action figure-related books gave up the following titles:

I thought people said HT were putting out a coffee-table-type book for their 10th Anniversary, I saw a few people say this, but in the end it just turned out to be a flimsy pamphlet-like catalogue.

I'd definitely be interested in a coffee-table book. The 10th Anniversary would've been perfect for this, a nice and logical time to do a round-up. It'd be great if it went into their process, their history, etc, yes, but even just a an easy reference book compiling images and details of each figure, the same information on their site, seems appealing to me at this time.

People here could put together a 1/6 or HT-centred book if they wanted, too, there's little stopping that. Most of those books pictured are probably by people in situations no different than yourselves, just regular people with an interest.

Yea Hot Toys should definitely do a book...I'm actually not surprised we didn't see a book at the 10th anniversary...maybe some behind the scenes pics, making of figures, interviews, etc.

Yeh, the 10th Anniversary would've been a good occasion for HT to put out a book. There is a lot of material on sites like this, and that'd be great to have assembled in a glossy book - but I'd also like to see some juicy behind-the-scenes stuff too, maybe some figures that didn't quite make it to release, or sculpts and accessories that were passed in etc.

I think Medicom will be releasing one, but it'll cost twice what HT would charge, and it'll fall apart when you turn the pages :p

And it would be out of scale, since it's a pocket book.

The last couple Sideshow catalogs are really good as a coffee table book. It covers everything not just 1/6 but still cool.

The catalogs are nice but I'd love to read a book about the 12" Star Wars and the behind the scenes stuff with licensing approval, sculpts LFL's turned down, etc.
