From the Times Online Article, 25 May, regarding the Tolkien lawsuit:

"Today the film-makers will confirm that Sir Ian McKellen is returning to his role as the wizard Gandalf in The Hobbit and that Andy Serkis will reprise his role as the murderous creature Gollum.

Sir Ian Holm, who played the hobbit Bilbo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings, is expected to narrate. Viggo Mortensen has unexpectedly been asked to return as Aragorn, a character who does not appear in the original Hobbit story, published in 1937. "

Dunno how much of this stuff Time is getting right, but IF the Holm part is correct, then my wish for Bilbo narrating the Hobbit as perhaps telling a story at Rivendell to Frodo, elves, etc. after the ring is destroyed and they're all mending sounds very very plausible. If they do this, then it would be told in flashback with a younger Bilbo and the tone of the story could be in keeping with the tone of the book.

This certainly makes sense and fits in with PJ and GdT saying that they'd find a way to fit Holm in.

As long as they get Martin Freeman for the role of Bilbo, I don't care how they fit Ian Holm into the story.
