That has to go both ways, of course. I assume that's what you're saying.

If there is one thing I absolutely detest politically it's a double-standard of any kind.

Agreed, but that is one tough thing to avoid in politics.

No it's not. All you have to do is engage things rationally and fairly. The problem is rationality is the first thing that gets tossed out the window in almost all political discussions (especially among those with strong views on each side). And once that's gone, all bets are off.

Also, no debate is ever won (and no discussion ever reaches a true conclusion) when one or more of the parties relies on emotion instead of rationality. But, again, that's what happens 98% of the time. And that's why politics SUCKS.

EDIT. Saw the last video. Are those Obama supporters? Cause they seem like a group Obama would want NOTHING to do with. That does deserve a wow though.

Two of them are. The first guy is now dead but his party which Quanell X is part of who you also see in the video try to live by his word. I was just posting it because it's the first one that came up when I hit up the tube. And of course Obama won't have anything to do with them publicly. He'll gladly take their money though.

I am sure there were plenty of people who that guy talked to when asked if they thought Obama was a terrorist their response was "^^^^ no!" but that doesn't make a good video.:lol I am sure if I went to an Obama rally and started being smug with his supporters I could could get some damn nice soundbites as well. Are the people on the video idiots, yes, but those aren't all the people who were there. There are plenty of idiots to go around in our country and their are plenty of them to go around for both candidates.

I love it when Rev. Wright builds to a boiling crescendo in most of his stand-up routines (sorry, that's what I have to call them) with... "RICH!.... WHITE!.... PEEEEPALL!!!!!!!!!!!" :lol I'm serious, I think that's hilariously funny and I laugh every time.

Well said man. I absolutely DETEST how things end up like that. Why can't people behave like they have half a brain and just act like rational human beings? Is it too much to refrain from personal attacks and sharp hurtful comments? I guess it's too much for some people.... :banghead

Seriously, Carl... One of my favorite posts from you. Well said indeed.

I wish more people would talk about that phenomenon.

Along those lines, what I have no tolerance for is intellectual dishonesty and it seems to me that there's two types. What Clinton and Rove do, where they know damn well that they're lying as much as they can get away with -- which is bad enough. But then there's the kind where people are so used to the rationalizations and half-trueths that they don't register the difference between dishonesty and reality anymore -- I suspect that is what Rumsfeld and Bush suffer from concerning the Iraq thing, but who knows.

And I really do think that being exposed to the first kind -- and not being in-on-the-joke, if you will -- leads to the second. A person watches Fox News long enough and if they don't know that it's propaganda made entertaining (if they don't know that the network was started by two men, one of them being Roger Ailes, media consultant for Nixon, Reagan and the first Bush -- one of the guys in '88 who turned the Presidential campaign away from substance to character issues) the danger is the viewer can start to effortlessly think and communicate like the people they see on TV. Take away honest discource between people and next they lose their capacity for critical thinking. And that leads to the sort of folks at the Palin events who embarrass themselves.

Let's stoke the fires just a little bit more:

Palin's association with the AIP (the Alsaka Independence Party):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmYqRfp6-x8

An article about what I think is one of the scariest moves that the McCain/Palin camp is making:

https://voices.washingtonpost.com/postpartisan/2008/10/mccains_chilling_dance_with_th.html

I despise the fringe elements on both sides, but I think it's highly irresponsible to stir up these fringe elements to help support your own campaign, regardless of who is doing it. I find it funny that no one has questioned Palin's association with this group, though she has no problem calling Obama a terrorist due to his meeting with Ayers.

you gotta love when religion comes into this. i knew his Muslim roots would come up as a controversy. the interviewer sounded just as concerned about him being raised a Muslim as the retarded Clinton supporters. maybe we should just have a buddhist run for president. it would be much more peaceful, that's for sure.

if you dont vote obama your a racist

I don't think that's what the point of the article is (assuming you're referring to that - though I think you're being facetious). The point is that when you whip people up into a frenzy calling another candidate un-American or a terrorist, you attract a certain fringe element that is really undesirable in any context.

i didnt have my serious face on when i made that comment :lecture :slap

That Rev Wright clip wasn't really WoW - Hillary doesn't know what it is to grow up as a black male raised by a single white mother in a society run by rich white men? meh, there are worse. Not nearly as creepy as the guy laying hands on Sarah Palin blessing her from witchcraft.

Not sure what you point is - the guy was a foreign delagate. What was she supposed to do ? Run screaming from him or insult his religeon. So much for tolerence eh ?

I guess its only to be tolerent of particular religeons is it ?

Not sure what your point is either.

My point was that the video of the witchdoctor laying hands on Palin, a man she credits for helping her win the Governor race, creeps me out more than the video of Rev Wright preaching his silliness. I'm certainly tolerant of all idiotic, IMO, religions and beliefs there are, and defend with my last breath their right to believe and practice whatever nutty, irrational things they want so long as it doesn't harm or prevent others from exercising the same right. But do I want an evangelical, pentecostal or member of Heaven's Gate as President or VP? NO.

PS. it's spelled r-e-l-i-g-i-o-n. :monkey3

I'm sure he's up there preaching for nothing.
