So I was finishing up Onimusha 2 before passing out last night and the ending always struck me as off the deep end. So I decided to start a thread about everyone's favorite WTF moments. I'll post more later, but here's the ending I'm referring too. I'm sure there'll be a lot of MGS' in here. :lol

I don't have any in-game moments off the top of my head, but when I think "WTF moments in gaming history" the first thing that pops into my head is the giant enemy crab presentation at E3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g1fr5vk72M

Also Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaBUeINW_3s

I'd put first looking at the Wii Remote without knowing much about it was a pretty WTF moment too.

Honestly I feel the same. I've played the tanker about 100 times spent many an hour on it where as I think I've played the main story twice. (One original second substance)

Yup...Metal Gear Rising is gonna be a definite day one rental for me!!!
~~It is noteworthy that they tried to take the story somewhere without Snake, but I feel they should've done it with a separate game--like what they are doing now.

Here's a couple for the list:
Metal Gear Solid--- Psycho Mantis can read your memory card!!!!

How about the habit of making Rockman/Megaman jump everytime you enter a Boss fight? :)

This is going back in time a bit...

The first X-Men game on the Sega Genesis. At the end of the Mojoworld level, you're told to reset the computer to escape the dimension. What they didn't mention is that you actually had to get up, walk over to your Genesis and hit the "reset" button under the power button. Under any other circumstance it's the same as turning the power off and on again, but for some reason it actually allowed you to progress to the next level in this game. And if you didn't do it? Game over.

Seaman on the Sega Dreamcast. This was the game that included a microphone so you could speak with your human-faced fish pet that you raised Tamagotchi-style. Some of the conversations you had with your pet could definitely be considered "odd".

That would be my WTF moment. Though there are plenty of them in the Silent Hill series.

Haha, I remember seeing this on AGVN or something. interesting idea, but so poorly executed :duh maybe if the game had said to press reset specifically kids woulda got a kick outta running across the room to hit the button, instead of game-overing and crying their eyes out :lol

What made it even more confusing is that it happened during what passed for a cutscene in those days. Basically, the screen was black and text would pop up, of a conversation between Professor X and your character. The Professor would say something along the lines of:

"We must reset the computer in order to get to Asteroid M. Are you ready? 3...2...1...Reset the computer now!!!"

Sicne the concept of pushing buttons during cutscenes was entirely new, pretty much everyone just sat back at that point to see what would happen next. But unless you understood that you were being told to hit reset on your Genesis, the words "Game Over" would appear 5 seconds later.

Here's another one from the golden age of gaming.

Earthworm Jim 1 - you jumped on a seesaw at the beginning of the game, launching a cow into the sky. When you finally finished the game many hours later, Jim would walk up to Princess What's-Her-Name who would promptly get squashed under that very same cow.
