Should I send a Patient Zero Exclusive to Germany at a declared value of $20.00?

Bro, you can find another buyer for this easily. Don't take unnecessary risks. Im usually flexible with declaring a low amount to save them customs duties, but I never ever ship internationally without tracking information and insurance. that is just asking to be scammed.

Damn straight! I recently almost fell into a similar trap, and from a dude in Germany too. I undercharged him for shipping and ended up having to spend $90 on shipping but the item has guaranteed delivery, comes with tracking and is fully insured.

It makes no difference that he is from Germany (not picking on Germans) I just will never ship outside of N. America again. My issue was with Paypal, this guy paid from his bank account ............ once the payment FINALLY cleared Paypal put a 21 day hold on my funds? WTF????? They said the payment would be released once the item was "proven" delivered. So I had to upgrade the shipping so I could "prove" it was delivered. Still I wasn't taking any chances.

Paypal is just a ^^^^ed as Ebay now so i'm done shipping overseas.

What would the freaks do?

Some guy in Germany wants my Patient Zero Exclusive, but wants it declared at the value of $20.00.

Not only that. I have a rule to always use EMS shipping for international buyers. ( sigs required going and arriving) This guy insists on Priority International instead. Should I agree to his terms or re-list the item? Let me know what you fellas think. :rock

Let me explain it to you. This guy wants you to declare a lower value because the taxes in Germay for goods from the US are very high. Everything that is over 25 € is not good for him.

And I believe he doesn´t want you to ship it via EMS because there is only one Company in Germany that handles all the EMS shippings and they want up to 30 € just for handling the shipment (extra, on top of all the taxes). We can´t go to the customs ourselves when shipped via EMS.

I buy a lot of stuff from the US and there has never been any trouble when the goods were declared with a lower value. Nobody has to go to jail because of it.

There should be no problems for you, but you could help him to save some money. The Government is ripping us all the time over here.

Last but not least ... I am not your the buyer !

P.s. I don´t understand all the hate towards us germans ...

Why would you get in trouble? It seems to me international people (outside the US) want the US people to take all the risks and risk jail time just to save themselves the money. Kinda one sided if you ask me. I also find it rude as hell to be told to do this after an auction has ended. :lecture I'm not picking on anybody. I can tell you now that I know it is against federal law I will no longer be offering that service to international buyers. ;)

I understand why international people ask but it should be before the auction ends so there are no surprises. I had one guy reply to tell me he could not purchase my item as I would not declare the lower value and I am cool with that and he was up front about it. I just think the international people need to see that this is a risk for us, though it be minor I think they might be looking for some one to hang and show the penalties like the music industry is doing for illegal downloads. I just don't want the problems and it should be easy to avoid, but I do feel for you guys as I think import taxes are insane at times.

Btw. Germanys are cool and I for the most part have never had a problem with any of them.

who would beleive a box that big and the content is only worth $20?

Buyer or not, this attitude is very self-serving. The fact that you (or the generic "buyer") can't go to jail for this doesn't mean that the seller in the U.S. won't. In this country, the action you are asking sellers to take is a crime. Knowing this, and still asking sellers to do it, is inexcusable and reprehensible. You have problems with your government? FIX IT. Don't blame us, or ask us to help you circumvent your own laws by breaking ours.

But legal issues aside, your "solution" to the VAT and other fee issues also fails to consider insurance of the item. If you declare a value of $20 on the customs form, then that the ALL you can claim if it is damaged or lost in transit. If it is lost or damaged (or if the seller claims that it is, even though it is not -- which is not an uncommon occurrence with international transactions), the seller ends up losing both the item and the money from the sale.

P.s. I don´t understand all the hate towards us germans ...
There isn't any hate toward Germans, but there is some disgust toward unethical buyers, wherever they may be.

No hate towards ze germans, only joking. Appreciate the info and I do feel for you German buyers......but I have to cover my arse. :lecture

AS a seller, I've done exactly what the buyer is requesting you to do and had no problems. IF the price was good enough and your buyer paid a little more, I'd do it.

I would do the same ... I just wanted to explain what this buyer is probably up to.

What did the buyer tell you after you told him what the deal is ? That would be interesting to know. When he is pissed about it, then he will probably give you negative feedback for the Deal.

He hasn't responded, he has two days until I relist the item. I notified him to keep all communications within ebay and not outside. If he leaves a negative I will dispute it and hopefully have it removed which I have had done before.
