While I generally agree, I do think Sideshow has upped their game with some of their recent statues - Lobo, Batgirl, Batman Modern, Dark Phoenix, the new Spider Man, etc. are all top notch.

Both companies have stepped up their game, but people have yet to see it from XM. Yes, Sideshow just made some amazing stuff, especially Red Sonja, Phoenix, Cpt Marvel, I have the last two on preorder... but XM has stepped up too from their older sculpts, they employed new sculptors and art direction seems more solid to me. Electro, Black Panther, She Thor and this Batman are crazy good in terms of sculpt ,attention to detail, realism in the face sculpts (which was deemed XM's weak spot) and if they're also upping the paint app they'll have no trouble keeping up with anything Sideshow is doing.
This Batman is nothing short of anything Prime1 has done, I'd say even better in terms of paint details, with the addition that this was not pulled from some ready to use 3D files.

Didn't XM do Magneto sitting in the Sentinel hand? To me, that's the best statue I've ever seen based solely on a comic character. I agree, the newer stuff they are teasing looks much better than most previous statues they released. I used to look at their prices and think they were crazy, but for what they are showing us now they can have my money.

Yup Magneto. Some other pieces didn't have all elements in their place, like Ms Marvel, Hulk, She Hulk before they tweaked the head sculpt... they were still good enough for their price in the selected areas but not for those outside of Asia. Even some of the other pieces, like Medusa and Dr Strange, as good as they are, don't have the realism factor displayed by these latter sculpts imho.
They were still ahead of Sideshow when they showed up, then Sideshow quickly adjusted their newer sculpts and so did XM. I think both of them saw how positively customers reacted to Prime1 realistic sculpts and paint apps.

I'm not a fan of the flesh tone on these, especially the lips. If the price is right I could live with it, but I can't pay a grand for that. Everything else is great. Looking forward to seeing the cape as well.

Agreed. The mouth area looks a little disappointing compared to the rest of the body,which is odd because the painted head sculpt looks great!.

Yeah skin and lips look fine on that picture. Are they talking about the masked head? I can't see the details too well due to the crap pics. Always the same though. Crap pics = mass panic

Only one thing ...and I'm not quite sure ...is it possible the cowl is a bit too shiny? Would it look better if it was a tad more matte?

A few people have told them the same thing. I would have thought that would be sorted.
