Fakes/Knockoffs/Bootlegs/Recasts impact virtually every industry from handbags to entire automobiles. It's a huge global problem. However unlike other industries where it takes money out of the hands of companies, recasts take money out of the hands of individual collectors, which is all the more despicable. But it wouldn't happen if there wasn't a market for it. I am sure there are more than a few collectors who are watching that don't want to pay the secondary price, but will quietly pick up the recast. After all, who is going to come in and look at the bottom of the statue to see if it's authentic. It's not like there were tons of flippers out there artifically inflating the market. Most of the sellers probably paid retail price and are selling because the profit is too good to resist. I paid retail, so it's not like I'm going to lose any money. since I have no plans to sell. But it is a pain in the ass knowing that the value of a great piece is being watered down by these unscrupulous morons. I guess it's just one of those things you have to suck up as being part of the hobby. As long as there is a dollar to be made and a way to make it, it's not going to go away.

Just leaving my 0.02 here: while it's true SOME recasts have impacted on market values, this hobby is full of recasted stuff that didn't impact. I.e. the various IM Mark 6, Hulk vs Spidey dio, Venom Comi, Alien Warrior Maquette and many more were recasted long and large and didn't impact on the respective value of the genuine stuff.
I'm talking of recasts that end up costing a true fraction of the price, you can have an Alien Warrior Maquette for a bit more of 500$, the unpainted Venom kit for about 400$ and so on. They're so cheap you could buy them, have them professionally repainted and STILL spend much much less than the original thing. And yet it didn't impact on their value.
Which is why I don't think a recast being sold for the retarded price of $1500 will impact at all on Magneto's price. Even with sellers claiming it's "as good as the original". I've seen in person a decent number of recasts. Some are as good/better than the originals (mostly busts, the Iron Man and Terminator busts are plain better than the original corrispettives), many are just bad, like the Alien Warrior with white zebra stripes all over the body. And it's not like you can claim back your money after you purchased, what are you gonna say? "The counterfeit stuff I've just bought is not as good as advertised"? Lol.

I totally missed it all after I left the thread, but I figured it wasn't going to be pretty.....:lol

Thinking it could just be someone on here having a bit of fun though.....not really all that fun to be honest as people don't like recasters of course, but for a price they will sell and wreck others investments for sure..

He said he has many names on this forum. I posted how I like the XM coin and registration portion being able to see other collectors who have the same statue. He called me an idiot. I thanked him and moved on.

he sent me a pm at 2:30am titled: "fat, ugly ****"

"Recasts will always exist and only dumb ****s like you believe they won't sell. Hundreds of recast XM Magnetos exist and have been bought.

You have no idea"

and the only thing I said to this dummy in this thread was that he would get banned lol, so I'm not sure what he was exactly responding to :cuckoo:

that's the million dollar question isn't it???? could be 100, or maybe they made 500 and letting them go slowly to keep the value up. who knows for sure.....:dunno

Yeah that sucks because I purchased one last year and its my favorite villain. So to watch it depreciate due to recasts really hits below the belt.

I think it will hold its value in the 2500-3000 range. Original owners prolly will be less reluctant to sell it if they think they will take a loss on it.

Dissapointing how collectors canabalize our own hobby by supporting this stuff

The Hobby doesnt get effected much at all by this.
Recasts have zero re-sell value. Doesnt change the MArket value at all really.

Whats way worse for the hobby is Collectors who buy up every single thing along with multiples, and then throw it all up for sale at big profits inflating the market value on the piece. Some try to justify it by saying they are selling to support new statues, but half of them are full of *****. If you ever buy multiples of a statue thats the scum of this hobby.

Sure thing..ES or flipping has nothing to do with recasting
