I don't get into this SS vs XM rubbish. I just like anything that looks good. I don't care if it has mix media or fully casted. All that matters to me is the end product. As I said earlier XM has some great statues, but they have a number that aren't that great as well. My particular issue with XM is predominately their face sculpts. I hear people rant about the Cap statue, but I think his face looks terrible. The sculpt is nice, but I think at the moment SS do still dominate XM with their face sculpts, which is a huge deal for me.

I just think people should be careful to act like everything XM do is gold, when it clearly isnt. I would say the same thing for SS. There are plenty I don't like but some are amazing. XM prices still a lot higher and I get they are fully sculpted. however it is the final product at the end of the day that matters no matter the company. I just feel a number of people into XM are starting to get extremely bias and statues like this Ms Marvel are only okay and not amazing.

As someone said earlier, it is each to their own, but I do hope XM keeps up a high quality and fixes their face issues. I love some of their statues like Magneto, Thanos and even Wolvy. I hope that one day they are available for most people and raise their release numbers at least so more people have a chance on getting their good ones and not paying the ridiculous after market prices.

Really???? What world are you living in???? Try this lovely SS face on for size.

Sideshow has good face sculpts, it's mostly the poor paint apps that ruin it.... IMO XM kind of had a dilemma at the beginning of their business, they started out with more comic style face sculpts and then as collectors started to find out about XM, the fans wanted more of a realistic face sculpt which I think they nailed with Hawkeye but now they seem to be doing more of a mixture of Comic/Realistic approach which they hit a home run with magneto.... So far I love what I've seen from XM, I think there will always be room for improvement but that can be said of any statue company...

But you do have to ask yourself which statue manufacture has the worst statue of the year :lecture ..... cough cough Superman Reeves cough cough......

Sexy, most of the guys here are pretty cool. A lot of us are XM and SSC fans. You should spend some time getting to know folks before you wipe your muddy shoes on the welcome mat. (Pssst, it is a XM thread after all).

Welcome to the forum, btw.

No problem. I did kind off guess I would get jumped on in a XM forum, but so be it. I have stayed off commenting on SF because of exactly how people can get nasty quickly. Just thought I would try and jump into it. I do know quite a number in here, I just haven't bothered to create an account here to comment before.

Not sure exactly how I 'wiped my muddy shoes on the welcome mat.' Because I thought SS had more better face sculpts? Apparently I cant express my opinion, when I thought that was what these forums were for? I don't need comments like 'troller or needs eyes checked' just because I thought that. If you have experience otherwise on XM face sculpts I'm all ears. I just don't expect to be talked to like that. I said XM lover, because I felt he was having a go at me like a bias person would.

Anyway, I'm not against XM or SS particularly either way. I have expressed this quite clearly. I like both companies, but have questions on certain things. If I can't do that then I don't get the point of these forums. Anyway, hope we can clear the air and move forward as I'm not one who likes to stew on things for long. I would just like to feel its ok to chat without getting jumped on.

Yeah but there is a way to chat like...I don't like the color on Ms Marvel's base vs I don't get why everyone likes xm their not that good

Hahaha, That Sup Reeves is , you have the license to make a legend actor... Oh well it is what it is

at least there is a definitive version from cinemaquette that does both the actor and the character justice. RIP C.Reeves

If you can even get it. The difficulty in getting xm pieces is making them sort of irrelevant. If BBTS had this (before tacking on a huge markup as they get scarcer) I would buy it, but to go through that simply toys madness, no thanks. Sucks because this was one I had on the radar, but, oh well.

Also, why the need to say the SS piece looks like a transexual? Is that comment relevant in some way? I wouldn't pay that price for it either, but I both disagree with your comparison, and frankly, find it offensive.

I agree with sexy in that the weakest part of xm's releases to date have been the faces (on some of the pieces). That and they have some weird fascination with making the bases overly complicated to where you lose sight of the character. Though they are not afraid to try something different.

How so? Extremely easy to miss the pre order, then they immediately shoot up in price. I guess if you are used to/enjoy collecting mondo it is no big deal, but you have to be johnny on the spot or miss out.

A collectible being limited or hard to acquire has nothing to do with a company being 'irrelevant', which is what you stated.

XM has been blazing since they hit the scene, and even more so since Magneto dropped.

They become irrelevant to those who can not acquire them. I realize you are hyper sensitive to any perceived xm slight, and that is not what this is. If one has no opportunity to purchase from said company, why would they continue to follow, get excited, only to be dissapointed over and over for missing out? They wont. Others have echoed this sentiment/frustration.

That is not a knock on xm, their product or those collecting them. They are just difficult to acquire outside their target market (by design, hence their limited distribution) but that makes what they are doing less interesting to those who only get to see pictures of other peoples collections. At some point you want the same chance to own them or you move on to something else.

I'm not sensitive, your statement simply makes no sense. I can't acquire a Ferrari, that does not mean they are irrelevant as a company. You want to chime on about the difficulty of acquiring an XM piece? No problem, have at it and I'd likely agree with you. To call the company irrelevant is misinformed.

:clap:goodpost::exactly:

That is hysterical. Something is irrelevant because you can't acquire one.
I guess 99.99% of the things in this world is irrelevant.

:slap

:dunno

XM has definitely arrived and is blowing up in the collecting community! Just look at the emotional responses, especially from people that are not able to get an XM piece.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the frustration but don't get it twisted! With low ES and no North American license there will be a ton left out in the cold but that does not diminish XM's relevance. They are producing pieces that are appealing to a large contingent of collectors. Unfortunately there is not enough to go around. PCS with a worldwide license is the same with their most popular pieces, there's just not enough to go around.

Exactly, is PCS also irrelevant as a collectible company because they produce even fewer pieces for their statues?

This sounds like sour grapes for not being able to get an XM piece than anything else.

I do share in that frustration though too. the company isn't irrelevant, but I don't really think its the context Tbolt is referring to. I think he is just saying that XM is so far out of some peoples reach they are irrelevant to them personally. There are some XM pieces I would love to pick up but there will never be an opportunity to because of the exhorbitant after market prices. I must admit, it seems so hard to get a XM preorder that I do really just ignore them now to buy. a lot of people I have spoken to seem to have connections that there is no way I could ever get them from those people.

You guys are hilarious and missed my point entirely.

Moving on.

I do find it perplexing they limited this one instead of taking it up to the 999 cap they set for themselves. The demand for Ms. Marvel is there.

I think essentially tbolt just meant that because he knows how difficult it is to acquire these XM pieces, he cannot allow himself to get excited about them. Irrelevant was just a poor choice of words. no one in this collectible market could dismiss XM as irrelevant, that's crazy talk. I personally feel the same way, I like looking at them but i'd not move the stars and sky to acquire one.

He's had every chance to say that, but he hasn't. Instead, he's opted to calling me 'sensitive' lol and claiming nobody understands his point like its some complex Calculus problem. :cuckoo:
