I'd say it's the lighting. The first pic looks amazing to me. The flash really messes with the pic from Rebelscum. I'm confident he'll look fabulous. This is definitely my most anticipated item. I've got it on flex-pay, so I'm glad to hear he's shipping soon.

Absolutely, don't let some washed-out, poorly lit picture disuade you; this one is going to be great!

:monkey5

I'm confident also. This one should be great.

Not looking forward to the bill, but it'll be worth it I think. I've been totally impressed with photos of Sideshow's 1:1's, but this is the first subject material that's really grabbed my interests.

The new T-800 busts are impressive too though ... maybe some other time. ;)

I just hope the production piece won't be a disappointment!

Doubtful, the Maul is amazing, some people weren't happy with the eyes, I for one am 100% happy with how he came out and hold the same hope for Yoda.

Good eyes seem to be tough to mass produce. I was a little worried about the eyes from the Yoda bust seen at Toy Fair--they looked a little too green or something. But I think that seeing the piece in person is going to cause all doubts to vanish.

I'll agree that Maul's eyes look so-so closeup, but I'm not gonna get that close and personal with him, from a few feet back, they're realistic and the whole piece really makes you feel like he's there with you, and I imagine the Yoda will have the same effect, and I'll be in my room expecting Frank Oz to jump out from behind my dresser and be like "mrrmm, caught me you have, hehehe."

I'm very confident too. They seem to really go all out on these 1:1's.

But - as a point of discussion, I wonder if it would be feasible or beneficial to do eyes as a glass inset - a "marble" sort of thing.

You guys are probably right about the lighting from the Rebelscum pic. I had to run across the idea of ordering the 1:1 Yoda bust with the wife as the interest was always there in the piece (and I love Star wars!!) although that pic scared me. Let's say she gave me an honest opinion and it wasn't very good.

Apparently, Yoda creeps her out and she doesn't want it in the house. She pointed out the framed AOTC IMAX poster with Yoda front and center. She said the reasoning she didn't want the poster in the mixed-media room had nothing to do with the colors or the frame of the print itself...it's that she says "Yoda looks like a creepy little bastard" and it seems "to be looking at her very creepily."

When my mom stopped by the new place to come and visit she actually vouched for my wife this time. She said (and this was news to me) that when my young cousins (5 year old twin boys) came up from South Carolina they were scared of the Yoda AOTC IMAX poster and asked that she take it out of the room so they could sleep.

She said the Yoda bust would probably be worse because it looks lifelike and it was only the top half of the character. Price-point aside, she just thought the bust was creepy as well. She was fine with (and likes) the other Star Wars statues I own even though she's not into the movies (she was the only one that used to take me to see those movies (ESB and ROTJ) when I was a kid.

I always take other people's point of view into consideration, but it ultimately came down to me. My wife has to live in this place too and I gotta meet her in the middle. So the Yoda bust is on the backburner (for now ;) )

I got a notice from my dealer that the bust is 4-6 weeks out. This was last week. I think I'm going to pick up the MR Vader helmet while I'm at it too. I really can't wait to see what the next 1:1 bust will be.

off topic: Seriously, where do you guys put your pics. I keep dumping them onto a google webpage - which is a huge pain. help?
