I really enjoy Tim Burton films, the only ones so far I haven't were his remakes. I personally think POTA was one of the worst movies I've ever seen in a theater, up there with ID4 and Congo... yep I said it, Congo!

And (to me) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was pretty much unwatchable... by the time we got to the 2nd Umpa-Lumpa song my fiance turned the movie off and refused to go any further. I can't fault her for that.

But other movies like Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and Batman are fantastic and some of my favorite films of all time. I think if we can just get him making things on his own or for the first time we'd all be a lot happier.

And sorry about your childhood being such a cumdumpster Dave... that must suck :monkey2

With all due respect, I PROFOUNDLY disagree. Corpse Bride was, IMO, one of his best films. Just because he revisited the stop motion realm, doesn't make the story a retread in any way. And Charlie was also very well done, and added depth to the story in some areas that was missing from the original.

If you feel that he has "fallen" that is, of course, your choice. But in my view he hasn't lost a step.

Corpse Bride wasn't just a re-hash visually, but musically. What I liked LEAST was how FORCED the whole movie seemed. Like he was sitting there thinking "Hhhmmmm... what else do those fat chicks in the mall like?????" I just felt like "Nightmare..." did a lot of new things, as where "Corpse" just kinda was like "Let's make another gothy musical stop frame movie." I know he's gotta have something more fun and weird in that noggin of his, that's why it all upsets me so much, I think he still has something, but it's not coming out. Me and my Edward Scissorhands tattoo weep and wait.

Big FIsh however was a step in a new direction for him and movies. We don't see ANYTHING with that charm anymore, and yet being totally not over-stylized with a forced pallet.
