Can't tell ya how impressed I was with it, stunning film. Looks great on Blu as well.

The obligatory remake is already on the way though

It's not a remake - it's another take on the book. Which is actually not a bad thing, because there's a huge chunk of the book that was naturally cut out of the first film. While I like the movie we got, I think there's a lot of potential for a much scarier movie.

And the last thing I bought came on both blu-ray and dvd in the case - Monsters vs. Aliens.

Picked up X-Men Origins: Wolverine from BJ Warehouse for $19.99 and the sale runs until October 4th that I picked up last night.

It's a good deal, but I'm upset as there was a $10 off Blu Ray coupon in their Home Theatre Guide for September that expired yesterday. Could've scored the Blu Ray for $9.99. My store ran out of the remaining booklets that had the coupon on the back.

Not to completely derail the topic, but this seems like the group to ask. Anyone have an Oppo BDP-83? I'm looking to get a new player and from what I've seen this looks like the one, but any experiences from folks here would be helpful.

oh that blows, man. The Blu Ray for $10 would have been a great deal. Atleast you still got it.

I picked up Wizard of Oz on Blu-ray and I was surprised by how great it looked for a 70 year old movie.

It certainly does look amazing, but I do wish it was in DTS; the sound is rather quiet in a few places.

Would the American version have been greenlit if it weren't for the success of the Swedish film? I highly doubt it, so remake/another take are the same thing in my opinion. Plus its being directed by Matt Reeves who did Cloverfield, a film I like enough, but the actors and script were really quite bad.

Latest for me is American Grafitti and Planet Earth on Blu-Ray

It does. I went to BJ's at 9pm last night. Thought about trying to print up the coupon when I realized that I have no color ink in my printer and the next nearest store was maybe 30 minutes away. It almost wouldn't be worth it in the long haul.

The did give me different $10 off coupon for that movie than what I was looking for. But I'd have to purchase a $22.99 Schick Razor set in order to get $10 off of that Wolverine Blu Ray. :lol

In fact, the film was I believe. The book was hugely popular in Europe, and I believe they went for it before the movie's popularity was determined.

And it's a pet peeve of mine when people call a movie a 'remake' when there was original material. There's a HUGE difference, since a film can only take one thread of many in a novel, and there's all kinds of potential to re-do a novel as a new film. Just look at Carpenters's Thing! This novel will end up being a good example, because like I said, there's a great deal of exceptional material in the book that was not in the film, so I'm hoping we see it in the American vesion.

i have not gotten one myself.. but reviews have been favorable.

I was looking for a secondary one and thinking of the new Vizio models that have started to hit.

Let the Right one in is soo good!

I thought it was amazing, not a lot of other people here on the board shared that sentiment. I posted a thread on it and there was a lot of negative comments about it.

Uh, no. There wasn't.

'she' was actually a boy, which she alludes to several times in the movie. Long ago (the book implies hundreds of years ago, middle ages), before becoming a vamp, he has his genitals cut off. He hasn't yet reached puberty though, so the child is still truly a child - not really a he or a she yet. The brief scene in the film is supposed to at least let you realize that his junk has been cut off entirely.

Tis the season, I had to get Shaun of the Dead on Blu. :drink

Two unrelated adaptations of the same novel within a year or so of eachother seems a bit far fetched to me, considering the breakout success of the Swedish film, and knowing Hollywood's tendency to borrow ideas. There's a quote from Reeves in this article that strongly indicates, to me at least, that the decision was made after Let the Right One In was released,

EmpireOnline - Let Matt Reeves In

You say to-may-to, I say to-mar-to :lol

Either way I'm more than happy with the version we have.
