Is is just me or have Amazon Marketplace sellers gotten really lazy lately. Several orders in the past few weeks, I have received the wrong product from what I ordered! And I don't mean a different title or movie, I mean a different edition or version. For instance, the latest one came in today; I ordered the Bourne Trilogy Blu-ray set issued in 2009 with the fold open cover, but received the cheap slipcase reissue from 2010! This is happening more and more lately. I could understand if the UPC code is exactly the same because sellers don't have a choice which product page a listing goes under... it is determined by the UPC (which is tied to a unique ASIN). So I can search for a title and find two or three or more, product pages, pick the version I want, place my order, and I should receive that product, not one of the other versions!!! :gah: It has become so common that I have to actually read all of the Seller Information on the new/used listings to see if the seller mentions anything about not being the version on the product page... and they do sometimes!

Again!!! I recently ordered all the Romero Dead on Blu-ray (6 total) to have a marathon during Oct. Except for Night (I got the Japanese release) they were all the US releases... except of course, I got the Canadian version of Diary of the Dead with both English and French text on the cover, which is not the ASIN or UPC that I ordered! Nothing against our Canadian collectors, it's just that I try to limit my collection to US releases only, except for the occasional item like the Japanese Night of the Living Dead mentioned above. Do Marketplace sellers just not care or do they think most people just won't even notice... or am I giving them too much credit and they don't even realize which version they are sending out? :slap :slap :slap :slap

Blind buy...

I picked up Sweeney Todd on sale for $10 at Best Buy.
Nice!

I actually plan on picking that up next week. I looked for it recently at Walmart, but didn't see the Blu Ray anywhere, so I got Gangs of New York instead. I'll swing by Best Buy and hope the price remains.

Not to be a downer, but Walmart has had it in their $7.88 bin for weeks; if you haven't opened it, you might be able to return it and pick one up at Walmart, but of course, you would probably spend that $2.12 in savings on gas making the extra trips! :lol

Check the big round bin of Blu-rays priced at $7.88, usually at the front of the video section.

Stopped by a different Best Buy than I usually shop at, specifically looking for steelbooks of Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, Wrath of the Titans or Ghost Rider 2, but no luck on any of them so I finally took advantage of their Blu-ray 3D sale and picked up Thor (with slipcover), Darkest Hour (with slipcover) and Transformers: Dark of the Moon (with lenticular slipcover). Then stumbled across Safe House steelbook and finally decided to get it since I didn't find the other steels I was looking for. After that, I was looking over the TV sale they have going on and again, stumbled across Supernatural Season 4 (with Best Buy exclusive lenticular cover)! Supernatural is one of the shows currently on sale, so the Blu-ray season sets are only $22.99, so I couldn't pass it up! Then, knowing they had the buy $50 of TV and get a $10 gift card still going, I looked around and decided to finally get the digibook of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and finished off with Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Season 1 set for only $9.99!!

So I get up to the register and the Supernatural Season 4 rings up at $49.99 and I stop the employee and point out it show be $22.99 and have to take him to the rack and show him the price. He brings the little price card back to the register and a copy of season 4 (without the lenticular cover) and proceeds to say they are different and that is why the other one is $49.99. I point out the sign he is holding says Supernatural Season 4 - $22.99 and that the copy I picked up was on the rack right behind that sign so he calls a manager up to figure it out. The manager reviews both copies and finally decides that the lenticular cover is a Best Buy exclusive (Duh!!!) and doesn't qualify for the sale pricing, but with a little more "debate" from me, he compromises and lowers the price to $29.99 which I accepted.

He walks away and the employee finishes ringing up everything and I have to point out that I spent over $50 on TV sets so I should get a $10 gift card, to which he tries to explain that something in the system changed because he had the same issue with someone else and couldn't get the system to recognize the TV special until he got to $65 in sets for the $10 card, or $125 in sets for the $25 card. I point out that I don't care if their system isn't working properly and take him to the TV racks and show him the sign saying $50 for $10 or $100 for $25 so he calls the manager back to the register, who proceeds to say no problem and actually gave me a $15 gift card for all my trouble (and make up a little more on the Supernatural set)! I, of course, thank him and explain I'm just trying to take advantage of the sales and promotions Best Buy is offering and he completely understood. Whew!! What an afternoon! :slap :hi5: :clap

This month's pickups

Good haul! I'm disappointed that the original Lon Chaney Sr. version of Phantom of the Opera isn't in the upcoming Universal Monsters set, but hey ho!

Have you seen The Town? One of the best movies of 2010 IMO

The big and medium sized shelves are Billy cases and the small one is Benno. They're all from Ikea.

The other was grey actually. It was built by my dad and me and yes, it's gone. Never to return. Almost had to bring in a demolitions crew to tear it down :lol

That's my whole collection. I think my parents would have a thing or two to say if i started expanding outside my room :lol
