WEel, I know it's one of my neighbors, but not the old man who is my next door neighbor or the good samaritan that saw it sitting by mailbox and ensured it's return. It's some ^^^^^in' punk kid that got off the bus afterschool, I'm almost positive. I'm willing to let this one go, even though I got screwed. But I'm worried it will happen again. I'm a big collector and trade in this stuff regularly. To have at least one package a week delivered is not uncommon. I'm expecting at least two more this week. WTF should I do? Someone stole from me. If I were to catch this punk, I'd choke and punch first and ask questions later. The more I think about it, the more pissed I get.

what about using "the UPS store". not 100% on it but it's considered a "street" adresse right? can you use it for a SS and ebay adresse?

Ive had 2 things sort of similar to this happen to me, one time I ordered a Logitech 5.1 surround system for my PC off tigerdirect, I was working afternoons the day it was shipped to my house, I came home from work, and the way I pull in the driveway you cant see the front door of my house.

So I pulled in the garage, went in the garage door to the house, it was 11:30pm when I got home. A friend from work came over about 1:30am and he says, "whats that big ass box on your porch?" I opened the front door and there was my surround sound speakers in a giant box, wrapped in plastic sitting on my porch in the rain.

Good thing I live in a quiet area or they may have disappeared and would have never even known.

I also ordered some other small computer parts and were wondering what was taking them so long to get to my house, then I go out on the back deck to fire up the BBQ and my PC parts were inside my BBQ..lol. They had been there for 2 days and I didnt know it, no note on the front door. The sticky note was posted on my sliding door on the deck, I couldnt see it the way the blinds were shut.

Im glad your Dio was ok tho, nothing worse than having broken collectibles.

1st scenario: Maybe (slight possibility here) one of your neighbors assumed it was theirs. Now, first reaction to that statement is "but it's labeled. It has MY name on it. It has PREDATOR DIORAMA on it". I know. But some people don't really notice things like that (you'd be surprised). Maybe the USPS placed the box near someone elses mailbox (since it's a community mailbox I'm assuming it's just a giant wall of slots right? So there's no way to place it near yours specifically, correct?) or atleast closer to THEIRS than YOURS.
They take it, without even looking open it up carelessly (since THEY'RE not expecting a collectible, so I could see a lame slicing and dicing the box open real fast) and once they pop everything out and "WTF.!? This ain't mine". Maybe they open up the actual Dio box to see how much damage they did slicing it open, or maybe it's curiosity like people mentioned. Then they can't repack everything (because they're unfamilar with how to actually do it) so they slap as much as they can together and take it back out to the mailboxes.

2nd scenario: One of the kids in the complex saw the box, saw "PREDATOR" and snatched it. Took it home, opened it and either BEFORE they put it together or after (Can you tell if it was assembled and then disassembled!?) one of their parents caught them and recognized it wasn't theirs. Then the last part of scenario 1 follows, slapping everything together quick like and taking it back to the mailboxes.

3rd Scenario: This only applies if the answer to this question is YES - Are there any wet stains, or is there any discoloration on the shipping box?

Not to lay blame on the shipper or the recipient, but your situation is another good reason to "double box" when shipping SSC boxes. Big bold black lettering of what's in the box is just an invitation to a low life thief.

I agree with what others have posted that it was either accidently opened, and that person(s) tried to put it back together, or someone knew what it was, and opened it up to take a peek. Because if they wanted to steal it, it would be long gone.

GordonGekko mentioned some real good tips, but I would go one step further and install one of those inexpensive little cameras that hook up to your computer, and if possible have your packages delivered to your workplace.

Just got back from post office after speaking to a manager. I explained the bizarre situation. She logged into her computer to check the details. It was my regular mail carrier that delivered the package. No doubt in my mind that this guy delivered it to my house. He knows who I am on a first name basis and even tries to deliver packages before 7:00 since he knows I work typical 9-5 job. Delivery for this particular package was made around 11:15 in afternoon. So someone, most likely a kid walking home from school, took package off my front steps, opened it, and then either got caught by parents or felt guilty, and just left it by the mailbox.

I asked if there was anything I could do to prevent future occurrences, since this thief is now probably aware I have cool pop culture statues delivered to my house. USPS doesn't have anything to do that formally, but since I went in and complained, the manager is going to speak to the mail carrier about it and I'm going to leave a letter in the mail box asking him not to leave packages by the front door any longer. Manager lady said they have option not to leave it at front door if there have been reports of packages dissapearing from certain "bad" neighborhoods. So while it will inconvenience me, I'm not wanting to go through this again.

Then I explained that this was a collectible statue and when the packaging is torn up, it decreases the value of the item. So could I get a partial refund on insurance because of what happened? Insurance only applies as follows:

1) if damaged, surrender the item to them, they will review your claim, and then offer a refund (partial or full).

2) if the item is damaged but can be repaired, you must provide two separate bids for cost of repair. They will honor the lower bid. Once you can provide a receipt of the repaired work, the insurance will cover that amount, up to the insured amount.

So basically I'm screwed. I don't think I can get an honest "repair" bid on this box, let alone two of them.

It could have been worse, so I guess I'll just have to chalk this up to crappy luck.

Oh yeah, delivering at work isn't an option for me. I work where you need a badge to get in and there are several hundred people in my building, and there are multiple buildings. I don't think the security guards would like to be nominated as my sideshow collectibles courier, plus I wouldn't trust them all that much either.

Look man , you are obviously going to have to have a back up address for your collectibles. NO IF AND OR BUTS! Do you have a family member near by or a friends home that is more secure. I don't see any other option unless you can arrange that a signature is required for the collectibles that you buy. So if you are not there then you pick it up from the post office. :D But no more delivered boxes out in the open where anyone can just walk up and help themselves.

Try putting up a Want it ad on eBay for just the box. They sell Pedator boxes on there alot. Maybe you'll find someone who'll sell you a new box that they don't want. Worth a try.

Was this bought new from sideshow or from a member? If from SS, you can get a replacement box.

For future, if you have the room, make a drop off box for packages on your porch, that way a package is not seen.

That would be nice but this was a limited edition of 600 and I am pretty sure the box is numbered. Correct me if I'm wrong Mesa. Mike:D

Yes, box is numbered, along with shipper box, and statue base. I got low #30. But I don't really care about having an unnumbered box or even a mismatched box number, rather have a good box. I just taped up the box tonight, including shipper box, to try and salvage what I could. It's really not that bad. Just not perfect, which is how I like things when I spend $200+ on them.

I've already asked the original owner to contact SS and ask if replacements boxes are available. Waiting to hear back from SS.

That's a good idea about a porch dropoff. I have a small area that I could build a small wall to hide boxes behind, but that seems a little excessive maybe. What did you mean by "drop off box"?

That's a GREAT idea EVILFACE has. Some kind of wooden or metal TOOL lockbox big enough for a PF size box. If you are on a friendly basis with your postman you could even give him a key to lock it up after he puts your package inside. Sounds extreme but if it prevents a freakin theft it would be well worth it. :D

When my Alien3 Diorama was sent, there were some problems with the sculpt. SS asked for the edition number and I received the exact same number back as a replacement, but I could tell it was originally an unnumbered figure, box, and outer box.

Maybe they have a few extra boxes for each item? Worth a shot Mesa. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about this Mesa. I ordered the AVPR plasma cannon a while ago. When I opened the box one of the base arms was broken off. I think it must have been customs. I was raging, it just annoyed me that they probably dropped it, thought "o well" and just sent it on.

I once ordered a very hard to find ToyBiz LOTR figure from an outfit in Italy. I got it there because I ended up paying only a few dollars more for it than retail, shipped from Italy. It was the American card and in perfect condition.

When I got the item, customes had cut it open to inspect it...and their blade went all that way through the bubble-wrap and the blister on the card.

Where did the item come from, could it have been customs?

Since I receive most of my packages from outside of European Union they have to pass customs. The idea is that the packages from outside EU are opened up at customs but only in front of the client. You get a receipt to go at Customs Postal Office and they open up the package in front of you. The fact that the customs employee is my student is another story ;) - that helped me get the MR stormtrooper blaster unopened...

This is why I check that box in the checkout instructions on the SSC site that I have to sign for the box. If not, these guys just leave boxes right on my steps or near the garage door for all to see.
