Well, she clearly didn't enjoy the movie... :lol
Is she a famous movie critic?

I have no idea who she is. I searched her name on rotten tomatoes and apparently she hates a lot of good movies.

Wow. The great Eileen Jones. Not sure how movie goers function without her expertise. :rotfl

It's art (allegedly lol), so it's all subjective anyway. Her opinion is no less valid than that of anyone else. I found her points about the pretentiousness of the opening title card (re: the 4:3 aspect ratio) and why The Flash was refreshing/likable to be spot on.

True. But as soon as I saw some of the movies she called Dull and unimaginative I couldn’t take her opinion seriously.

Avengers
Drive
Django unchained
There will be blood
Mad Max fury road
Skyfall

Those are all bad films, according to Eileen.

You seriously read her reviews of all of those movies? I find it hard to believe she labeled each and every one of those "dull and unimaginative". Regardless, her not liking those films wouldn't make her wrong about ZSJL, as (IMO) it's nowhere near those films in terms of quality.

Heck, I just posted the link because it was sent to me and it made me laugh. especially the "[Expletive] the motherboxing Snyder Cut" final line. :lol

Do you know how Rotten Tomatoes works? It shows you a one sentence summary of the review and what films they considered fresh or rotten. I’m sure you can read the full reviews if you were so inclined. As I said, seeing as she said a lot of films were bad, which in my opinion were really good, it was hard for me take anything she said in her Justice League review seriously. Any “critic” that says movies like the Revenant are “meaningless revenge films” just can’t be taken seriously. :huh

The only good critic is yourself.

I find the idea of film criticism and any sort of art criticism to be obsolete, especially new age blogger critics, ostensibly the Sun newspaper of the crit world.

Absolutely. It conversation. Its gossip. Its communication. Its shared values and beliefs. It is ultimately Human.

It would be impossible for all humanity to shut up and not have an opinion about something.

As they say, opinions are like aceholes... everyone's got one, and they often times are.

It's probably why social media and comment sections are so popular. It even has a reward system with the likes, emojis, and shares to the point people even thank other people for the likes they get, as if they accomplished something significant. It's absurd.

I supposed it's also genius because someone was smart enough to monetize it all.

Yes Snoop, I know how RT works and IMO it's pretty lazy to summarily dismiss someone's point of view based on single sentences plucked from complete reviews. That said, having just perused the list of her reviews your opinion of her probably isn't wrong - she does seem to be quite hard to please! :lol But she doesn't appear to be consistently against genres like action, CBMs, or excessive violence, as she's given positive reviews to stuff like Inglorious Basterds, Taken, Joker, John Wick 3 and Predators. I guess she just has to be in the right mood lol...

Whether we think a film is good or bad, is how it resonates with us.

In fact, it's not even a choice between 'good' or 'bad', but 'like' or 'dislike' because the feelings can be unrelated to the actual quality of the film itself.

There have been ten movies in the DCEU so far, and the only one that really resonates is Suicide Squad. The others have their moments, but that's all they are - moments. Like the 'bookends' in ZSJL I mentioned earlier.

In 1989 Batman felt like the gold standard for the genre. It felt how things should be. After that it was Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. For me that latter still wears the crown.

Most of the DC TV series also gradually deteriorated. They went on for so long that they ended up going round in circles. There are a few later bright spots, such as Titans, Doom Patrol and Pennyworth. My favourite of them all, Gotham, even deteriorated in its final season.

I watch all these things, and sometimes it's just to tick them off the list. Sometimes though, even I have to give up, as with Superman & Lois...
