$500+ is the new norm for SS 1:4 PFs, just as $200+ is the new norm for their 1:6 figures, so get used to it (and enjoy it until it moves up to $550). In all seriousness I think SS has run out of making excuses for price increases like the cost of petroleum, higher cost for factories, higher licensing fees, etc. The reality is they are pricing based on what the market will bear. In part you can blame companies like XM and Prime 1, the ebay pricing in the secondary market, and customs on Facebook Groups, for exposing the prices collectors will pay and the lengths to which they will go. As a result we've become the victims of the success of the hobby. We've seen the same outrage at $300, $350, $400, $450, and now $500, yet folks keep buying and SS keeps churning along. It is what it is. But it's no longer cheap.
The only thing that really ticks me off is the continuation of lame exclusives. At this price there should have been a second unhatted portrait. Even though I picked up the EX, the bunny will probably never see the light of day.
