I can't wait to see this movie. I enjoyed The Hurt Locker alot. As long as this is better than Act of Valor

I saw this; and well, it's nothing like act of valor. The story is centered around that CIA operative, agent or whatever.

Why wouldn't I? It's written by someone who was there. I have no reason not to believe it.
I'll preface this by saying that I know nothing about this book, or this movie really. But first hand accounts are made by human beings who are imperfect "cognitive misers." It is conceivable that you would get 4 or 5 different accounts of an incident that will differ from each other in various ways.

Having said that, I would not buy Void's apparent inference that the SEAL was lying for some reason.

^But, one should always realize it's a possibility. The logic that since someone was there and is now telling the story must be speaking the truth is a slippery slope. I don't think he'd lie about anything major with surely the other SEAL's knowing full-well what is being said in the book, but he can remember incorrectly as you said or fib about some of the things that go down.

Yeah, I've heard that DoD were mad that the book contained classified information.

Just saw the movie. It was pretty good and the Raid was almost the same as the book. Loved it.

The movie did well in not glorifying the event. It was what it was. There was no huge gun battles and Rambo nonsense. At the end people weren't cracking open beers and partying. They were almost in awe of what they just did and what it will mean in the history books.

The "death" of Osama Bin Laden has been questionable at best. To date there are currently 3 stories of how it went down from 3 different people who were there and as yet, until evidence is provided, even his death is questionable. For all we know, he's sitting in a cell somewhere outside the Geneva Convention because outside of a small group of operators and a handful of politicians, nobody knows the truth.

I still kinda want to see this movie as well. A nice, cathartic experience.

But I'm excited to see this. I'm very happy it's done this way.

saw the movie. great movie but people has to stop calling it the best movie of 2012. I found some of the scenes long.
I like how real the movie is. feels like I was part of the hunt but there is no way this is the movie of 2012.

I loved black hawk down better.

Still best movie of 2012 for me THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

I agree with jer 100%

Going to see this on Saturday. Even if bits and pieces are not true I am interested in seeing assuming that POS Bin Laden is dead how he died.

Solid - Batman has nothing to do with this thread and people can call it the best movie of 2012 if they want. Not everyone believes that TDKR was the greatest thing ever.

I wish we can ban all the Bat-ards that pop into every thread. :lol

I think you will enjoy it Josh. The raid especially was probably one of the best modern military depictions in film to date. Extremely to the point and nothing over the top.

Everything is gotta be vs Batman. Good Lord. :slap :lol

I think so. Me, Dad and my Mom are going to see it this weekend. We're all interested in seeing what went down and how maybe it was behind the scenes. Good! This movie needs to be straight forward and not the typical Hollywood action movie.

It was a pretty great movie. It was the film I hoped for. After watching it, my only minor issue, and it's beyond, beyond minor...is I wish they made his death more dramatic.

But, after I got over that, I realized, that's how it would've went down, and not all slow mo, with blood exploding everywhere.

Really great stuff. I enjoyed the whole thing.

How could they make it dramatic? They filmed it exactly how it supposedly went down. I loved the simplicity of it. He shows how crazy good the SEALS are. Calm cool and methodical.
