There's still lots of little things I need to do to make him perfect, but I really love how easily he came together. My neck adaptor is a bit loose, so Marty has 'floppy head' right now. Eventually I'll try the glue trick that is mentioned in here. Right now I have some hidden cardboard holding his head up, which is also why I have the collar so closed on his shirt with the headphones around the collar. Once I fix the head, I'll adjust that.

2 or 3 coats of clear nail polish on the ball joint did the trick for me. :)

I got 2 coats on there right now and it's good enough that the head stays up well in any pose, but I'm gonna take the head off tonight and try a 3rd coat. I think it will be nice and tight then.

Another trick that Shorty taught me is to stick a small amount of cotton in the adapter's hole, then attach it to the body. The cotton forms around the ball joint and fills in the empty space, making for a tighter fit :) I used cotton off the end of a Q-tip

What is this neck syndrome you guys are referring to?
for my Freddy custom I tried a regular Narrow TT short neck plug on a slim body and the neck flops around. Are you saying this can be remedied with cotton or glue? I planned to use a nice tacky putty we use at work.

Yeah, for some reason the ball joint on the Slim is smaller than the regular TT.

You have 3 choices for moding it to work:

1) Put some super glue on the ball joint, stick the adapter on there and keep moving it until the glue dries. The added bulk by the glue should be enough to make it snug.

2) Put a little bit of cotton inside the adapter before sticking it on the ball joint.

3) Put a few coats of nail polish on the ball joint. (I think that using craft superglue that is applied with a brush would work pretty much the same.)

I tried the superglue trick first, and it did work. But the glue was a bit flaky and I didn't know how well it would hold up, so I've tried the nail polish trick. The glue scraped off really easy.

The only issue I have with the cotton trick is that it seems like you might end up having to futz with the cotton every time you take the head off. Nice thing is that it's a totally reversible mod. However, the nail polish mod would be reversible as well assuming that one could just get it off with normal nail polish remover.

Anyway, all of these mods retain articulation at the neck. I would do any of them rather than using putty to keep it fixed in place. :peace

Old clear fingernail polish trick never fails :lecture

I had to give my adapter about 6 coats before it got tight enough for my liking, but I was using a Headplay one, so it might be slightly looser than an official Hot Toys one (I think they're pretty much the same, though).

Also, I applied the polish to the inside of the adapter instead of applying it to the peg itself.

The putty I have does not harden, it stays pliable and really tacky. It will work perfectly I think..I feel it will be more effective than something like glue or polish as it won't wear off with movement...

Thanks for those tips, I love learning the tricks of the customizers.

The nail polish thing doesn't wear down easily or quickly in my experience. I used to use the hell out of that method for loose joints on my old GI Joes. But admittedly, it could probably wear down more quickly than your putty if you move the head around a lot. Good luck with your method!

It would take an awful lot of wiggling to wear off enough of the polish to matter. And adding a coat once a decade if needed isn't really a big deal. Better than having to futz with putty IMO. Although, I don't understand how you're applying it.

[Edit] Damn. Kara is way more diplomatic than me. Must be why he's a mod. :lol

Good point. I just tried it by taking a tiny bit less than the size of a pea and put it in the neck plug hole. Then popped in on the neck post. worked great..I'll take it out and try the polish method next to see which works better for my tastes.

Hi DarthMagnus,

Thanks for the tip!

Hi Everyone,

I can't post at the sale/trade section but if someone's got an extra rainman set for sale/trade, I'll be willing to trade a set of my 1/6 magazines, comic book + paper props + electric guitar + cash for your set :) I only have 1 extra set available :)

I also have a MIB Hot Toys Wolverine for trade if anyone's interested :)
