That's really unfortunate to hear and I'm sorry you got blocked. He's going to make these figures however he wants so even if someone has a suggestion then he can ignore them but blocking them is a bit much. All you did is show an example not bash him or the company.
Exactly. I appreciate your perspective. That's just how I see it too.

But you know what, if he makes great figures for our collections, I guess I'll just have to find a way to confine my thoughts to this forum and learn that trying to reach him with customer input is a fool's errand given his emotional make-up, and just enjoy what he produces for us.

Lesson (finally) learned.

In regards to that amazing Saavik head sculpt:

"About our proto paintup.

All our proto paintups are PRODUCABLE, and the final production version usually ended up better looking than our protos.

I was from the gambling business. We must be fair. If we put up Protos that are painted by Professionals Custom painters' that can take up to 2-3 weeks of time, then we are misleading the public.

How can a $200 figure able to have the same quality paintup that cost $300 - $1000? Be reasonable and realistic, simply impossible.

We do not like to mislead friends. I consider that as false advertising."

"They read my FB, and saw me "complaining." They have TMP McCoy proto re done and put on my desk before leaving for the day 🥰

Same with Regula One away jacket. All refinements mentioned yesterday have been completed."

You're the best, Nanjin! You know EXACTLY what you're doing- don't listen to the"experts".
Warp speed ahead Admiral Tam!😎👍
I've accepted that providing anything but glowing feedback to this man results solely in admonishment and banishment and that just buying what you like and ignoring what you don't is the only practice that makes any sense at all given this reality.

But you need to realize that when you say "don't listen to the 'experts'" in your comment, you're attacking every member of THIS PARTICULAR FORUM of friends and fellow collectors who thought it was only reasonable to provide a company we all want to buy from with customer impressions and feedback.

Post what you like, of course, but you might want to choose your unadulterated praise words more carefully. Just one Jedi Master's (infallible) opinion...

FYI, TWOK Kirk and McCoy will also have Kobayashi Maru and Regula One Editions just like Saavik.
There will also be Deluxe editions. TWOK is an Once in our lifetime production. I want to include as much items as possible to stimulate your Cortical node so you can remember who you were back in the good old days.
We are selling memories anchors and not action figures
😋

There is a reason why we never used "deluxe" as edition because I reserved "Deluxe" for TWOK and TOS
💪
I am from TOS era, can't blame me to have extra attention on the Trek from my era
🥰

I am EXTREMELY protective with TWOK and TOS. I have done all the good things for the younger Trek generations since 2021.

I’ve been reading through this thread because I’ve been wondering myself about TWOK, for the same reasons everyone else here has and through reading your experiences with him and comparing then to mine, have come to the conclusion that while talented, he is insufferable.

It's frustrating because of the whole "expert" thing. I'm a graphic designer and showed him what I think the Geordi and Ro Laren box art would look like just for fun and he was like "so you think you're an expert?" Not once did I say anything about having some sort of Trek knowledge that I was boasting 🤷‍♂️

Do you still have your box art? Would be cool to see and this audience would appreciate the fan art.

Sure, it wasn't anything spectacular, just what I figured the box art would look like. He made it sound like I could get in trouble for using the EXO-6 stuff so if the mods think they shouldn't be posted just let me know and I'll delete.

Those^ look terrific.
The problem might be if they are then shared out of context, (and people are known to do that), and while it's obvious here in this context what they are, they can be misconstrued for official product, since nowhere on your image did you clearly label it as fan concept art.
Though without seeing his exact reply, I wouldn't take it personally, you are obviously wanting to share in the theming and aesthetic EXO are providing, yet from a "legal" (non emotional) perspective I can see why to avoid muddying the waters, they might ask for you to desist.
Companies no mater how big and particularly smaller ones, are obliged to actively defend their copy rights, trademarks, logos, brands etc.
Not because you personally infringed or benefited, but because someone down the line who might want to, can then use EXO's "knowing" lack of response, as evidence in court they were not protecting their brand, logo etc...
So when they "knowingly" become aware of it, they ALWAYS have to protect it, no mater how small and inoffensive or slight the infringement is.

Nanjin couldn't do anything besides a cease and desist in most western countries. You absolutely are allowed to make that kind of stuff as long as you don't say "this is the official thing" or try to pass it off as such.
I don't even think a disclaimer is required. We're entering dumb Elon territory where he thinks stuff has to be labeled "parody" which it 100% does not from a legal standpoint.

He's safe if you post them unless you're from certain other countries, or if the mods don't like that.

I work in entertainment. Our stuff is parodied, fake stuff made all the time for it. Heck, I've had the experience of having some of my work converted into porn. I can't even go after THAT... Feel like I should be able to but I can't...
