Joost never fails in making impressive products but as a BTAS nut, I'm not a fan of this at all. There's a reason why Bruce Timm and every single artist that worked on the show and tie-in comics NEVER even tried a "realistic" rendering of their DCAU Batman, because it looks ugly as sin. He's a cartoon character with outlandish proportions and trying to apply real-world sensibilities just messes with the original intent of the art-- which is recreating that late 1930's art deco style.

I personally think rather than trying to make him somehow exist in the real world, the model should be kept very simple and instead give us a phenomenal paint job with tons of SUBTLE shading that makes the sculpt pop. The 3D videogames did this well, they kinda feel like an art cell in 3D.

I'd much prefer to see a more realistic take inspired by the animated series rather than a literal translation of the art. Glad Joost is taking that route.

Things like the ludicrously thin ankles just don't work in 3D for me, not to mention the figure will have all kinds of stability issues.

Prime 1 are very good at taking 2D comic art and adding all the extra detail we'd see in the real world.

Agreed. I don’t really want a realistic interpretation of TAS. At that point it’s not really the character I know in my opinion.

Also, Batman: Vengeance is a good game. A bit like an episode of the series that never aired. Wish it was available on modern consoles to download and replay.

Well this could go the buzz lightyear route, that one isnt too bad. But something looks off in those renderings
 
I do find it fascinating that people will spend countless hours debating the minutiae of the placement of Christian Bale’s shoulder pauldrons or lamenting how Hot Toys idealizes sculpts, but are totally cool with a company taking an animated, 2-dimensional design and subduing the artistic elements in favor of “realism.” I love the Mondo stuff, but I think the only reason they didn’t go the fabric route is because they were still early on in their 1/6th scale offerings and didn’t trust themselves to be able to do the costumes justice in production.

I kind of wish Jazz was willing to pick up the slack there because I’ve seen tons of customs that do exactly what he’s doing and none of them have done the show justice, to this point. Maybe Joost’ll be the exception that proves the rule, but I think it’s weird that he won’t tackle ‘89 Bats or others that HT have done because he thinks they’ve done him justice, but not the animated stuff.

A faithful animated style body should be developed and clothing put over that. Otherwise it’s like an Arkham skin thing or a custom that’s not faithful to the source material.
This. I get the practical considerations and needing to make some concessions (like bulking up those scrawny Timm legs for better balance), but this is exactly what I always hated about the custom options I’d seen over the years. The biggest offender being the nipples. Frankly, I think the fact that companies even started adding them to their buck bodies is stupid because the human body and human skin don’t work like that.

More than there not being a viable option on the market for the more barrel chested Animated Batman, I also feel like these companies really need to realize that there are more body types found in human physiology than just Kim Kardashian and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
