I clarified my post a bit. I don't have a problem with large NRDs for official items that are made through a trusted and/or official seller. It's the ppl I don't know in the custom world asking for these large deposits is what makes me feel uneasy, especially when they aren't great at giving updates. I always think that after a given amount of time, the runner should at least attempt to contact the artist involved for an update, but instead it's like they're sitting on their hands just waiting for the artist to contact them.

For example, I'm getting a real leather coat made for First Avenger Red Skull by Mad Leather Studio. I waited a couple months and asked for an update that took me only a few minutes to do. Got a reply a couple days later with an ETA. That's all it takes.
Large NRDs for official product scare me more, production downgrades can be unpredictable to say the least.

With custom work, (from the Artists I purchase from) what’s advertised to me in photos is exactly what I shall receive. The one exception is the coat from Hye Hwa. That’s a bit of a leap of faith, but I was only willing to put the asking amount up if my references were acknowledged. I’m tired of expensive inaccurate custom work, $450 for a 1:6 coat, those details better be there. I keep tabs on custom projects I’m in, their scheduled production, how much I’ve paid and how much I owe for each in my notes app. I also screenshot every PayPal custom payment I make, whether that’s to a run organizer or the artist themselves and keep that photo until I have the product in hand.

If Yunsil can do a 2.0 of Ledger’s suit, without assistance from Shortround. Then why can’t the Phoenix red suit run be given to a different organizer? The guy has like $13k worth of deposits and she still hasn’t received payment? Yet he has other projects booked with her that he has to complete first. I feel like it would get made quicker if someone else relaunched the project.

really boggles my mind. i get shes trying to honor the main organizer (night) for 2019 joker but he has not shown any initiative to follow through with the project. idk how hide was able to move forward with 2.0 ledger

im kinda interested maybe doing a joker project for ledger with 2ouble involving pseudo layering but many people might not like that but I'm intrigued to see if he's interested after I do red suit and normal arthur for myself and a friend with him

You mean like faux layers of clothing?

Well it’s clear Yunsil finds loopholes, she made the 1:4 with kantizhu about a year later despite being the same suit. Maybe she sees this as a brand new suit due to all of the upgrades being done and not just a second run which allows for a different organizer? Who knows. Maybe Iris would change her stipulations if she heard about Yunsil ignoring the original organizer and starting fresh on a new suit?

yes faux layering, i couldnt think of the word. people have always brought that up a lot and I've yet to see anyone attempt it besides hot toys with loki. i think joker would really benefit from it

2ouble wasn't able to a successfully attempt it with banks because of the coat but I think maybe this might be an interesting alternative/experiment to try

If you’re afraid of overwhelming 2ouble 8ight with a full suit, why don’t you see if he can make one piece at a time instead of a full suit run? Ask him to make the waistcoat or grey blazer? See how that goes then move on to another piece? I wish more tailors offered one piece of clothing.

dino needs to make new printing for the shirt pattern for sure. I'm not a fan of the clean/bright printing. i think he'd be able to handle the rest (shirt, tie, waistcoat, pants, socks, blazer) fine.

afaik he is down for single pieces of clothing. a friend asked about palpatine's robes to replace yunsil's but he's been busy with projects

Can he print proper 4 hole buttons?
I didn’t care for the material he used on his previous Ledger shirts, the material InArt used is probably the best around. I’m curious to see him take a swing at the waistcoat or pants.

I believe he can. I’m planning on asking him if he can print granny style buttons for Arthur fleck if not I’ll find someone else to do the buttons. I know a guy. Just hope he’s accepting commissions

Yup, I don't disagree with you on that. There's a balance to be had for sure, though.

It's great when things actually work out and the project runner is regularly giving updates and working with the artist(s) involved. Like GCard for example - I see that guy giving updates all the time with his Nolan trilogy runs. But then there are those other guys where it's like pulling teeth to get an answer; or, sometimes what feels like having to do a manhunt to find out where these ppl went b/c they aren't responding on any platform.

I always get an uneasy feeling when handing over these large deposits that are sometimes as much as a full figure in themselves to these ppl I don't know.
That's how I got scammed. A $300 deposit lost.

Adding insult to injury, the person in question is very active all over the groups and forums. And calling him out hasn't done any good for me, nor has it deterred him in any way.

Part of why this happens is because the community enables it.

I tried starting a thread on this forum as a cautionary measure, and the mods shut it down because they didn't want it to turn into a "witch hunt".

As opposed to what? Doing your job and keeping tabs, and preventing people from getting scammed?

You know, it's so easy to get away with it now. What's stopping anybody who's a piece of **** from doing it?

May I ask who it was? Then I know who to look out for.

So far I only know of Night. He keeps saying it’s not his intention to scam and that he will finish the project, but 5 years, $13k in deposits and barely any updates is concerning.

The problem I have with using the promo photos is that the majority of them have their saturation washed out. This is what the colors actually look like in promo pics -

Suit texture :

Pinstripes are dotted, not straight lines, no blue hue found anywhere on the suit, not even the pants, they’re just straight purple.

Tie needs texture. Shirt is grey and white, no blue.

Thanks Nick, I will send everything you said along with the pictures to Hide Yu later today.

I did get a recent refund from Night. But it took a LOT of persistence.

Yes Nightt47, sure perhaps not.

In the real world, having $13k of others money tied up for five years, that you’ve more than likely dipped into (how could you not? We’re talking half a decade here) Yet the only expertise you provide is being the middle man between a tailor and it’s customers, I’m sorry but that is the definition of a scam. There’s probably people on that run that have already died..

Thanks. It was only for an arm set from him, which was direct so guess that had a bearing perhaps?

It wasn’t a run he was organizing externally.
He left Bigwayne in the dark for the longest period about the status of his already paid off Two Face, no clue if he found any resolve in that yet.

You’re not a good person if you’re booking multiple runs, taking funds from every direction, before clearing your concurrent overwhelmingly backed up slate, of which features a multitude of projects with no foreseeable finish line in sight, followed by long periods of inactivity in the hobby.
