Yeah I'm not quite sure what to make of this either. Love the idea of RDJ coming back as a different character... but am having a hard time picturing him as an all-powerful villain and major threat to the Avengers. Especially if he's going to bring his usual Tony Stark quirkiness to the role.

Glad to see the Russos back though. Hopefully they can somehow make this work as well as their previous movies.

I’m tired of the multiverse. I just want a proper Victor Von Doom, not a Tony Stark Doom variant.
but is it a Tony Stark variant????
I hate that if that's the case. I thought he would just be RDJ just playing doom. playing victor. I don't want it to be Tony Stark

“You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain”
I suspect that will be the Russos when all is said and done. Lucas should have stopped after the OT, Jackson should have stopped after Return of the King, Cameron should never have touched Dark Fate. Directors who end on a perfect note and then "come back" years later never seems to work out, unless your name is George Miller.

At this point nothing can revitalize the MCU for me. This is nothing more than a desperation move. They couldn't afford RDJ anymore. Probably the real reason they killed him off in Endgame. All of a sudden their willing to pay him again. And I also don't see him as a good Dr Doom.

And even if he turns out to be great, there's nobody even worth seeing him play off of. The real Avengers the fans actually cared about are long gone. We'll get Ms Marvel, She-Hulk, Falcon Cap, and all the other new rejects.

And biggest sin of all, introducing Doom through The Avengers and not the FF.

Great, Dr Doom is going to be a floating head on a CGI body...

Seems an intriguing choice, but announcing this upfront ruins what sounds like an incredible moment, revealing Doom's identity to the heroes, and the audience. Before I die, I would like to experience an "No, I am your father" moment in the theater.

Obviously it would be a Tony variant, but with what we've seen from the Kang variants, it's an opportunity for RDJ to portray a completely different person, which would be cool. We've had billionaire playboy philanthropist Tony for such a long time, and it really shaped the MCU, so hopefully they would use this to help shape the MCU in a new direction moving forward.

Is this like a tease of a Multiverse Doom?
And then the REAL Doom is now setup ala Thanos in GoTG as a sort of undercurrent til FF?
Seems like a misdirection to me,otherwise what's the ******* point.

RDJ was originally intended for Doom before he was cast as Iron Man. That's how the Marvel people were introduced to him in the first place

I'm hoping that maybe it's a variant of Victor Von Doom that just happens to look a lot like Tony Stark...does that make sense?

At least Dr. Doom will have brown eyes. They got that part right. :lol

I'm thinking we may still get an actual Victor Von Doom on top of this Iron Man/Doom variant.
I'm doubting this. Having RDJ as Doom, just to undermine him later and say 'this guy is Doom' doesn't seem like something RDJ would be up for as it just erases everything he does as the character.
