People complaining it's pretty dam close to the proto, my complaint is why the hell does he come with nothing after seeing the lost boys video? Could of at least added a diorama base or a tombstone to sit on. šŸ¤¦šŸ˜‚

Yeah - this isn't worth the insanely high price SS are charging.
The hands look good, as does the tie and I love the outer packaging.
But the likeness has weakened considerably from the prototype and the hair is a mess and not in a good way.

The furrow of the brow has all but disappeared as have the face wrinkles and creases which combined with a flat and amateurish paint application has completely ruined the likeness around the eyes, forehead and upper part of the face.
I will say the sculpt on the teeth still looks good.

The paintwork on the face and neck has worsened significantly - more than I was expecting even with fairly low expectations if I am being honest.

The clothes also seem to lack the grossness/weathering/discolouration of the proto, with only a slight grey smudge replacing it.

The hair has major problems, the biggest of which seems to be they got the rooting the wrong way around, the hair appears to be longer and thicker on top and shorter/thinner of the sides instead of the other way around.
I am not a stylist but that seems like it would be harder to correct than the inaccurate colour.

The handbook looks odd and weirdly discolored with the lettering turning yellow and the image looking fuzzy - I dont believe this effect to be intentional and it certainly isn't screen-accurate.
Which would be bad enough but given this is the figure's ONLY ACCESSORY its pretty awful and especially at this price point.

This is one I would wait until it reaches the bargain bin or just get the hands when its parted out.
The sculpt could maybe be salvaged if it was re-rooted and painted, but sadly the missing sculpted details you see on the proto are never coming back.
Honestly - best case scenario another company takes the sculpt of the teeth from this head [or better yet acquire the master mold of the original proto sculpt] and make their own likeness.

It's quite amusing seeing the lost boys figure video and seeing this and realising we're being screwed on the price.

Looks pretty close to the proto
I agree with the first part.
Hmm, the more I see of this thing, the more I'm disliking it. For me it's giving off Barbie levels of quality. The hands are nice though.
100% agree mate, this one is disappointing me more and more as I see the figure.
Such a shame, the proto was great and David proves they can deliver.
Hair looks better now, but I'm still struggling to see the likeness.

Looks like they resculpted the mouth. Upper lip is different and he's showing less of his gums.
Dammit, the mouth was the one thing I thought they hadn't made worse.... but you're absolutely right.
FFS Sideshow.
Another SSC dud....that not the same, no even close
Yeah, gotta agree with you on this one, the proto to final product change here is so drastic, especially when compared to the David Lost Boys figure.

Lads, is it weird to just buy a figure's box? :ROFLMAO:

Looks pretty close to the proto hair will definitely need styling.

Maybe the Beetlejuice/Keaton license & actor likeness rights cost more for Sideshow to acquire than Lost Boys/Sutherland (so the cost is passed down to the consumer)?

Didnā€™t Joost/JazzInc say (in a livestream) that Michael Keatonā€™s representatives wanted 9 JazzInc 1/6 Batmobiles but Joost was able to negotiate down to 3?

This is for Keatonā€™s likeness on the static 1:6 Batman figure (to seat in Batmobile/Batwing) - Iā€™m sure there was a separate currency fee exchanged in addition to the 1/6 Batmobiles vehicles.

Tbf I think if the price was $180-210 I'd get it but I believe from kit this guy was $320 and sideshow 280 + shipping and tax. I get likeness cost but a little resin tombstone or something ain't gonna kill sideshow. šŸ˜¬

It's definitely a hard pill to swallow especially after hot toys dropped the 2024 version, though be waiting a while for that.

I will still be getting this as I do quite like the sculpt.

That video isnā€™t really doing it any favours and the hair looks kinda jankyā€¦.buuuut, Iā€™m holding a little bit of hope that posing/futzing/lighting will bring out the best in it. Call me overly optimistic/crazy/a sucker, but Iā€™ll keep my preorder. Heā€™s one of my all-time favourite characters.

Keep in mind here that everyone's comparing professional photos with screenshots captured from terribly compressed YouTube videos and shorts. So there is going to be quite a difference. In-hand, I suspect things won't look quite so jarring. (I hope.)
This is exactly what I'm holding out hope for. I don't know why sideshow wouldn't just post some better photos/videos of the final product instead of leaving us with just that bad quality live stream.

They can't post better cause it's a train wreck, are you saying we should not believe our own eyes???

I mean a ****** low quality photo, and a high quality photo can change how something looks quite a bit. I'm not expecting it to be 1:1 to the proto but I'm hoping its better than its looking at the moment. I mean there is a yixie sculpt under that paint still... Maybe i'm being too hopeful. Was hoping to pick this up over the hot toys because I don't really care for that sculpt.

We can already tell there are some clear sculpt changes, so seeing it in full HD probably won't make much of a difference.

Although maybe some moodier lighting could hide the flaws better...
Resolution makes it harder to see any paint or sculpt details that might be there. Lighting especially affects our perception of the sculpt, for example there are wrinkles in the prototype pics that we can't see in that video because the head-on light fills them, whereas lighting from above casts a shadow into them:

I don't mind working a figure a bit, but hiding the flaws at this price should be a minimal effort.
That hair alone will require a lot of work ...
