Questions for Asmus

Would you consider releasing clothing/accessory sets for those characters that you've already done and where you are not planning to go back to?

I'm thinking alternate outfits here, perhaps those less likely to be made. Rivendell/Council of Elrond Aragorn, Rivendell robes Elrond, final Azog battle Thorin, Smaug Encounter Bilbo (ie, the fur lined coat), Citadel Guard Pippin, Esquire of Rohan Merry etc.

I know everyone has their wishlists, but this is what I'd like to see from Asmus, in terms of the Lord of the Rings line and what would be sensible for them to work in over the next 3 years:

Crown Series
-Saruman
-Galadriel
-Eomer

In my opinion, Crown Gandalf the White is the best figure Asmus has made. Thranduil looks like a home run from the early photos. Considering InArt is doing Aragorn and Legolas, there's really no reason for Asmus to invest time into those characters. I think Saruman would be an easy choice for a Crown figure. Christopher Lee is a legend, Saruman is kind of the big bad of the films (since we really don't see Sauron on screen except for a minute early on) and he'd look great with Gandalf.

The Galadriel and Eomer figures that Asmus made already are ok. Neither is among their finer efforts, but neither is bad. They're both in that grey area that they look ok on a shelf but there's a lot of room for improvement. Cate Blanchett and Karl Urban are going to be remembered among the great actors of this generation, and both played memorable characters and knocked them out of the park. With proper treatment in production, these are two characters that could shine next to InArt's figures.

Important Characters Not Yet Made
-Haldir
-Denethor
-Lurtz

I get Lurtz is probably an incredibly expensive figure to make, new body, the armor, the paint. And maybe it won't be a big enough seller to justify a Crown figure, but an Uruk-Hai is long overdue. I think if Asmus can do it right, it would give them a lot of buzz. There really haven't been enough bad guys made in sixth scale form for Middle Earth. Bad guys sell. It's a great opportunity.

Jokes aside about Haldir, Helm's Deep is one of the most memorable battles ever viewed on a screen. It's raw, it's dirty, it feels real. Although not book accurate, the Elves coming really did add legitimacy and stakes to the battle. Haldir being the leader of the Galadhrim group that arrives does make him an important character, and his armor would really stand out on the shelf. This would likely be the only Haldir ever and if made well, would certainly make it desirable.

Denethor, as Stryker mentioned above, is an important character that seems to get overlooked. John Noble was absolutely fantastic in the role and did get us invested in a character that was ultimately going to be disposed of anyway. You don't need to do much for this character to be made, his robes are the main feature and really the only accessory you need is a chalice or a jar of oil or something. Could be an easy one for Asmus to churn out, but the sculpt will be ever important on this one.

Characters That Need a New Figure
-Eowyn
-Faramir
-Elrond

Eowyn, it goes without saying, needs a new figure. She was one of, if not the first figure Asmus made. That figure is definitely dated and looked out of place by today's sixth scale standards and needs an upgrade. And as great as an updated reissue of her in her Dernhelm armor would be, I think the Shield Maiden dress she wears would be the way to go. You can still give her the sword she carries with it, but she wouldn't need a ton of accessories otherwise. Feels like a no brainer.

Faramir, although not that old of a figure, needs a new run. There were some inaccuracies with the original one, obviously the bracers coming wrong and the belt being a nightmare for a lot of folks add up to a subpar figure. Faramir is a beloved character that I think would sell a big number of figures if Asmus could make it without cutting any corners anywhere. There's no way InArt is getting to him any time within a decade at the rate they're going, those are the figures Asmus needs to strike on now.

Elrond - the first version isn't bad. I think the armor is really good and the sculpt is good, even if it could be improved a little. But most people associate Elrond with his Rivendell look. A Council of Elrond figure feels like a brainer, as it's his definitive look.

Soldiers
-Gondor Citadel Guard
-Galadhrim Archers
-Rohirrium Soldiers

If memory serves correct, the Last Alliance archer and warrior were well received, except for the gold of the sash being incorrect. At the end of the day, people like generic army builders. Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers, whatever. I think Asmus should put out some generic soldiers that don't need accurate likenesses to anything.

Didn’t Asmus recently confirm Saruman will be the next LOTR Crown figure- to be announced after Snake Plisken?

Yes, espeically Arwen and Elrand,
both character we felt the head sculpt was really good, that we can continue to use and explore new outfit with.

The next in line Crown series for LOTR is actually Saruman.
it is a completely remake, from head to toe.

We are still thinking about the diorama, is it going to be the throne or the Palantí and the atlar

Good luck with Saruman’s throne.

It’s kinda gigantic.

However, a few characters with perfectly manageable thrones you might consider for future projects are-

Mmm, oh yes please.

With Grima and that banner; don’t mind if I do.

Perhaps you’ve come to tell me why my bank account is empty?
