1. wrong witch.... that was the WW of the East.
2. The point of the story is to tell her life from her perspective, and perspective can change everything.
Haven't seen the play. Does the sister in the wheelchair end up being the witch of the East? Is that why she had the ruby slippers? Because if she finally gets to walk only to have a house dropped on her that's tragic

. Cause I remember bvs had a historical 60 percent drop soooo I guess 29 ain’t do bad?
