Looks very promising.

Waiting the next flood of comments to complain about the Jaw or it not being Big Chap.

It would be nice if Hot Toys would just disclose what the jaw material is but I'm 99.9% sure from all these close up pictures that the jaw material is a painted silicone rubber piece, which sadly is deterring me from ordering it. I understand why from a aesthetic design standpoint but I had that previous alien they did and wasn't a fan. The paint rubbed off day one and the jaw came unglued immediately... just irritating to pay so much for these toys and elements of their design aren't built to last or just have inferior materials.

Damn, I really liked the looks of this one too...

There's really no reason for them to use rubber for a hinged mouth gimmick. The Alien design is busy enough that they can hide the seam for a switch-out mouth behind the jaw and under the dome. Then they can cast it out of translucent plastic and paint everything but the tendons.

After seeing this on one of the photos on the last page:

I completely agree: There really is no reason...

It really does.

Personally, I’ve never had any issues with materials deteriorating, so I’m sure this will be the case here. Fortunately, I don’t envision myself opening and closing up the jaw often too.

As much as this is a sweet alien design, it’ll never be BC – only a select few will keep clamoring for that.

The majority of collectors are already saying the differences are negligible and don’t matter, and that this perfectly represents a standard alien, so. Especially since there’s a dome swap out to have a un-scorched type.

Especially since there is already a visible seam for the rubber mouth

I have had my avp alien warrior and all rubber has held up fine. Jaw included. Opened and closed it loads of times. But the climate here in the Netherlands is great for figures. Hopefully they have made strides with types of rubber used, just like in silicone bodies etc. So people in worse climates don’t have to stress. They have to be confident in it holding up better than the older types right?
