I've never seen a company owner that make products for public consumption be so antagonistic toward customers. I won't get back into the history or the details here, but the bottom line is that this man has allowed himself to become so emotionally emerged in his products that there is no line where he stops, and his figures begin. So if you say you don't love a particular detail or production idea on one of his pretty pieces of plastic, you might as well call his (ex)wife ugly or his kids stupid. That's how he reads it.

I'll also add that it is precisely his emotional connection to Trek that makes him both often insufferable, and also an unstoppable force to get these figures we love to market.
Interesting, I was not really privy to much of that. Yes, definitely the only thing to do is to go along. Still, I think it's our eagerness as collectors to buy his wonderful stuff that feeds his pride and contributes to his attitude. Like Pavlov's dog we salivate at the thought of the next release and jump up and down when he waves the next stick to throw for us to retrieve.

It's a tricky thing, because you don't want to stir up drama or get on his bad side, and yet we've seen several times (like with Riker, T'Pol, and Cage Spock) where the criticism does cause him to reevaluate and make improvements that I don't think he would have otherwise. So... 🤷

Exactly. The most glorious irony for me is that the post I made on Social Media where I made some photoshop corrections to the Saavik prototype that I thought would make her more accurate and aesthetically pleasing caused him rail against me publicly and finally led him to block me on FB, and yet he incorporated just about EVERY LAST correction I illustrated into the final production piece! You just can't make this stuff up!

Uhh... was it... was it kind of porny? If she was like your usual photoshops to make characters "more aesthetically pleasing" I can understand why he'd block you. Did she have all her clothes?.. Was it appropriate?..

I don't think it's like that, dude! Nanjin's just like us- we're all REALLY passionate about Star Trek (TOS-VOY anyway) and he's making some super cool stuff. We're all enjoying the Exo-6 experience. No Master/dog nonsense 😂

Not everything Exo-6 makes is a "home run", & if he's defensive about that- they're his "art"-so what? Aren't any of you artists, or been friends with artists? Don't you get it? 🖖

Dude, it's called a metaphor. Similar to but not exactly as, "are you sure it isn't time for a colorful one?" And it's not nonsense, because I for one do salivate at the thought of the next release that I might want and I do act like a dog when thrown a stick to chase as I rush my keyboard to place a pre-order. It's in our nature. It's a comment on the collector not Nanjin. ;)

I think I'd definitely be in for Chang, possibly Valaris, but if they make a TWOK Sulu (as they should) I think I would likely pass on Captain Sulu.

It's kind of opposite for me. I'd rather have Captain Sulu than "Barely did anything" Sulu.
Conversely, I'd much rather have TWOK Chekov than "Blatantly Racist and Stupid" TUC Chekov.

I'm not sure I find either Checkov all that interesting. Maybe the "Where Can I Find the Nuclear Wessels" Chekov from TVH? 😄

I'd take TWOK because I think that was his most interesting part. The conflict with Khan at the beginning is iconic, and I also think it's the last time we heard that patented Chekov scream.
