They will definitely make an RDJ Doom. But we don't know what it will look like yet so impossible to say if it will be an improvement.

I don't forsee a diecast version but there is a possibility for a more comic accurate hono version down the road.
I think this is the reason why HT is getting this Doom out there now. They know the RDJ Doom is...inevitable and I foresee a possible [real] Doom further down.

Yeah I agree that an RDJ Doom is certainly going to happen, NO way Hot Toys will miss the potential profits from such a figure.

I guess the real question is what will that figure ultimately look like? Hot Toys will be bound to the design used in the MCU. That’s why I was hoping to see a shot from the set or something of the RDJ costume design, but I guess Marvel will wait quite a while before they allow any “leaked” any images of RDJ as Doom.

Hey guys, looking to hear your opinions on this.

I have a modified (height, slight adjustments to arm and neck length) S Hero Doom that I am now happy with.

That said, I think this new HT Doom looks really cool, and overall I think it is superior in most respects to the S Herp version.

However, as a one figure per character collector I’m concerned about a couple things:

1) Is there going to a Hot Toys MCU Doom announced next year that blows this one away?

2) In a couple of years is Hot Toys likely to announce a die-cast version of this figure.

Are any of you guys concerned at all about the issues above, or am I being ridiculous?

Any of you think the S Hero version is better?

Thanks in advance
1) without a doubt

2) probably

3) not worried at all, we could all be dead waiting for the next 2.0. Buy what you like, enjoy it, sell it if needed, and buy the new one.

4) probably no chance the SHero will be better in a comparison

Wow, I have never seen Doom in a suit, pretty cool look.

And yeah if they make a couple looks for him like they did with Loki from the series, I can see HT or someone else doing a look like this if he appears in a suit in the film.

I was thinking he would possibly appear similar to how he looks in the art below (not mine):

Decided that I will pick this up despite the inevitable MCU based Doom that we will see announced in a year not so. This release is a really cool looking modern interpretation of Dr. Doom and I think it will look really good in my collection.

I just want to wait five days for some additional “Sideshow Rewards” points to mature, then I’ll PO the Special Edition.

I need a really nice throne to go along with this release. Here’s hoping Hot Toys makes an add on😬

This display raises a couple questions.

#1 Why are Venom and Doctor Doom not Hono releases? You just displayed them with a bunch of other comic figures that are all Hono.

#2 Where the hell is this Thor you have been displaying for about a year at this point? You showed this around the same time as the first Hono preorder of Wolverine.

Doom is a higher quality figure than they'd do under the Hono name, though they could easily have done Venom because he looks cheap for a HT.

:dunno

However, in other Hono news, according to Man of Hot Collectibles latest live they're currently working on a comic book Captain America and Batman and Robin '66.

The 2.0 of Batman & Robin is an interesting development especially as Jazz Inc revs up his schedule of going after the 66 line as well as Mars Toys. The more the merrier competition is making it good pickings.

JazzInc has been so open about what he wants to make that Howard knows which targets to pick, so he can direct his resources to do the most damage.

Hono's price point should vastly undercut JazzInc as well.

Strange to me that Hono would put together that B & R since they seem more focused on comic book releases and that would be from a TV show. Looking forward to seeing that Cap and c'mon, Hono... do Classic red Daredevil already!!!

It will undercut the price for sure, but it'll be a cheaply made product without care.

If Howard actually cared about his international customers and not his influencer basement dwellers Hot Toys would be selling out all the time on standard releases, yet they make the most popular characters limited. I just don't care for the business model, I enjoy the product but I don't have to like the people running it.
