I agree. Lim Toys definitely needs to make a Lara Croft next. In the interim, I’ll display Nate with the Hot Toys old man Indy (once he is released).

I was considering putting DoD Old Indy next to him, but he'll have a place on top of the Detolf housing the other Indys due to the height of the rope bridge cliff diorama base.

I'd rather it was a Lara, or another Uncharted character in-keeping with the modern aspect of the Nathan figure. i.e., the Beretta 8000F Cougar was produced from 1995, and the SIG-Sauer SIG556 Classic from 2008.

Such a killer figure! Mines due this week, is the sword diecast I'm pretty sure Breda said it was plastic but Justin metal.

Also a strange one but I feel the expression teeth should of been the battle damage look would make more sense? Still this figure is incredible and a true work of art.
Yeah bud, sword is diecast. I was surprised that Breda mentioned it was plastic to be honest. Think I have every main Lim release (except from Quiet 😭) and was relieved to know they didn't skimp there. Always have faith 😅

Eagerly awaiting mine.

For some reason, this release has brought a good deal of nostalgia for me, not just of the character but of a period in collecting. Specifically, just over ten years ago on the old Freaks board. This piece reminds of that time, particularly a collector who went by "MarfMaster". His collection was top of the line with many iconic characters in his set. The pairing of his custom Nate and Indiana Jones in a photo which I can't seem to find right now brings to mind a good time in this hobby for me. A personal "golden era" as it were. I remember artists like Jake Rahmier and others were churning out amazing one-off customs. Reasonably priced clothing and head runs that still hold up to this day. I sometimes go back thru old threads in search of the photographic relics of those days. I've been doing it lately as a result of this figure, actually. The hobby was personally very enjoyable then.

Man, I'm getting old... "Oh crap...".

Any who.

It's attracted some unwanted attention for Nate...

Circa 2014, I think. Just looking at this one reminds me of long-defunct custom artists like IDM, the heyday of high-end tailors like Kato E.... A time when Detolfs were still in production! When you could piece together custom figures and over the months build up a personal grail piece.

Same problems for me. I think the outside elements are supposed to look like that?

The flagpole/nameplate can be inserted much easier if you heat them up with hairdryer/ boiling water. The flagpole still feels a little loose on mine but it stays in place well enough after.
Do you have photos of your base?
Because for me it is not normal, I have seen photos of other receptions and the golden element where the piece is placed is not as high as mine, it must be lower than the plate "Nathan Drake" is at the same height as the element on the left representing a mountain.

It is normal that these 2 elements are at the same height to be able to maintain balance.
Mine not being aligned, the base does not have a good balance and moves when you press on it (I also think that it is because of this that the black plate with the pegs on which you fit the mast is not not straight)

Besides regarding this mast, I heated it and it finally came back in, but that's not why it holds well, it can come off at any time

Here is also a comparative photo with Justin's base (on the left) and mine to illustrate my points, The base must be like Justin's

Ah ok you meant his U2 custom. That was definitely a grail piece.

All of my artefact holders are 'off the ground' as well.

Looking underneath, while the black clips are all flat the pieces that hold the mini stands appear to tilt upwards.

Mine are very similar to this early in hand photo:

Incidentally, the skull also looked silver in that shot.

A little while ago I opened up a tin of 'Chainmail' acrylic and sponged it onto the skull:

I agree. Many folks have turned 1/6 figures into 1/6 statues with minor articulation (mostly in the custom world) for the sake of realism at the cost of articulation. Seamless heads, necks and chests are a trend right now that I truly dislike. The point of these figures is to be able to pose them. But, I guess some folks really want high end 1/6 statues (I assume for space reason) instead of getting the larger format statues. Since no company is really making any (aside from a few from Queen), they take to what's currently available to turn into statues basically. The ironic thing is, when you think about the cost some incur in the pursuit of these 1/6 statues, they more than likely could've bought a larger statue. But, the heart wants what the heart wants I guess :lol

But, b/c of the realism that comes from those customs, it appears to give others (collectors and companies alike) the idea that this is the way forward. Ppl wanted magnetic bases b/c the crotch grabber breaks the illusion of realism, so InArt got rid of them and replaced with magnets. That didn't turn out too well, so now they're back to crotch grabbers and getting rid of magnets in the wrists/hands.

Thankfully you guys included a standard arm with standard wrist joint, so we have the choice. I have a feeling that InArt won't be including that choice with their Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon figures that will force the figures into certain poses, which will be very annoying if true.
I prefer the more seamless look to figures.

The appeal to figures for me is:
-cost
-space (statues always have such large obnoxious bases)
- figures go deeper into lines than statues
-freedom to go with your preferred look
- sometimes statues go overboard with the pose like Nate mid air jumping.

I prefer the look of statues, they just aren’t really viable for me. Loving the seamless wrists in Nate

Didn't R_R_X say some other company was working on a classic Lara? Or did I make that up?
Yes there was a misunderstanding about that. They mentioned a “classic” lara but apparantly they meant 2013 lara. Its been theorised SW took over that project from MT and that turned into their (SW’s) 2013 Lara that recently came out.

No word on an actual classic Lara as of right now unfortunately.
