This figure does not look like a solid replacement for Marmit or Sideshow.

I'll wait for release.

If this figure follows many others, there will be plenty on eBay at reduced price a year after it drops. The market for $300 4th-tier Star Wars dolls is tightening (imagine after the tariffs have been in place for a year or so). Patience.
If I had to buy a TIE pilot right now, I'd try to hunt down the SSC Rogue One version.

I also wish they'd stop doing characters that SSC already came very close to nailing when there;'s so many other choices of never-nailed or never-done characters.

...and the HT Tusken is nowhere near as good as the SSC one, same with the Jawa. And speeder bike is only slightly better.
Here, here! I still take the SSC Tusken out for fresh shots once in a while. It's an awesome figure that still looks fantastic!

..and their Jawas still look good too (despite the floppy bodies)...

Many older SSC figures still hold a place in my displays while the impulse buys of HT end up back in the box.

I'm just a little surprised at this HT version of the TIE pilot. It just looks lacking. Here's hoping it turns up at some forthcoming cons so we can get a better look...and maybe HT may listen to the feedback and adjust.

The SSC and Marmit TIE Pilots are very nice figures, they look quite well together. I'm pretty disappointed by the new HT Pilot, and I'm an Imperial collector, and also am not such a big "rivet counter" or accuracy nut like I was before...

The Snowtrooper Commander replaced the SSC Snowtrooper grunt in the image above, that is the only change now. Emperor and his Royal Guards and ROTJ Stormies as well as Scouts and Speederbike and the DS Gunner are on another shelf

Patience?
And sacrifice Han and Leia?

I've noticed something, if I'm not mistaken, wouldn't this new Hot Toys Tie Fighter Pilot actually be a Return of the Jedi version? I was under the assumption that all the Episode IV versions had a third hose coming out of the chest box and under the left arm around to his back. Maybe there were some without that hose that I didn't notice?

Wish they released a similar helmet with the OT TIE Pilot.
Or a helmet that matched any one of the distinctive OT/ANH markings patterns rather than that RO pattern (which combines of a couple of different OT helmet markings patterns.)

I ended up passing on the SSC RO version because I just didn't like the shiny ("gimp suit") jumpsuit look as much as the standard TIE jumpsuit. And I hated the gloved hand sculpts the SSC TIE pilot and ATAT driver came with, but I just swapped them out.

I'm subscribed to a lot of Youtube 'review' channels, which I usually just skim through to see what they're saying about certain things.

Ones discussing the HT TIE Pilot keep popping up, and I've yet to see a single one express how bad the figure looks. Not even the ones where half a dozen fellow gasbags come on for a mass debate.

Feels like Collector Freaks is one of the last refuges of sanity.

That's not something you're likely to hear every day. :lol

I'm not a fan of pleather costumes and I only collect OT Imperials, despite liking RO movie. Thus the RO TIE Pilot was not in my books, but there are the "elite" variants of the OT Pilots, which would be cool to have. IIRC Medicom made an exclusive version.

The RO TIE pilot jumpsuit is actually more like a sail cloth type fabric, not pleather. And the Medi figs are closer to 1/7 in scale (varies slightly fig to fig) so can sometimes be a bit problematic when displayed with 1/6 figures.

Also, most don't notice this, but the SSC RO TIE chestbox is a slightly different (and slightly differently sized) sculpt to the ANH version, accurate to RO.

If you go to 6mins 40secs in Chris here compares both Pilots.
