Best thing I ever heard from a woman as a very young man was "Everyone is a Yes, No or a Maybe. You were a Maybe." I didn't pursue her as she'd given me no signal, but I learned her ranking system after I (unbeknownst as to how or why) went from 'Maybe' to 'Yes'. But 'No' never becomes 'Yes' and young people - especially young men -- would do well to understand that.

I imagine those initial 'no's were actually 'maybe' according to my erstwhile female companion's rulebook, but in my own youth I was far too oblivious to parse anything other than a woman sticking her tongue down my throat. Luckily, we were all of us up to no good back then so I didn't have to wait too long.

Ah, youth. I was too stupid to appreciate just how free and easy it was, but so it goes.

Being apart of the youth somewhat still myself, you don't really pursue girls unless you have to. If she looks good, she knows she has a chance with you so there's not too much fear of rejection. You just let them come to you, if a hot girl is into a guy these days she'll let you know without a doubt. If you have to pursue her then she's not interested. If a girl wants something they get it. They don't care for a guy who's eager to take them home, they know he'll always be there to say yes. Yes they like to know they're desired but you have to show a level of indifference to them. I've never seen a guy chase a girl who's out of his league and leave the bar with her, if you have to work her down then you're not what she's after, instead she leaves with the one who barely pays her any mind because to her, that's her catch. If obtaining you wasn't hard then you're easily discarded. They want a guy other girls fancy that at some level, can take or leave her. If a girl wants to kiss you, she'll do that, all you do is stand there.

My strategy back then was take care of myself, be approachable and try not to be a dick. They decided, just like in your example above.

I once had a dude in a bar come up to me after a very nice young woman saw fit to make out with me; kind of in awe and asking "What did you say to her?!"

Not a damn thing. For one thing I was drunk as hell, and he was in the incorrect mindset a lot of young men have that I'd somehow charmed her or ran game. Best guess: I was clean and polite and she liked my dumb drunk face.

My face is still dumb but I don't drink much in bars anymore.

Yeah nothing is weirder than a guy going in for a kiss, relationship or not. You want her to be all over you, like James Bond. There's a game to play, but it isn't with words. You want attention from other girls, then you gotta have them see one girl all over you, that causes a level of attraction "spitting game" will never. They don't want to see a guy chasing a girl that isn't interested, they don't want to see you equally all over her as she is you, either. They want to see you indifferent to her while she's obsessed.

If a girl doesn't make it obvious she likes you then you treat her like she isn't present and go for someone else. If she is actually interested you'll know after that move, nothing gets a girl talking and exposing how she feels than seeing you with another one instead. Keep an eye on her while with the other one, see if she's at all moved and go from there. That is the game. Nothing more noticeable than a woman's jealousy. Me personally, I crave a girl's desire for me, indifference to me is an immediate turn off and I won't give her the time of day.
