What are you not getting man? The statue has been released in Asia for months now and people are getting their sculpts repainted by professional painters. The repaints you see have nothing to do with Prime Studios, nothing will be changed because the final product has already been released, it just hasn't arrived at Sideshows Warehouse yet.

why are you so aggressive all the time? :lol

Still looks like a sad clown even with the repaint.

True, but I think the repaint makes it look less sad though.

IMHO, the repaint of the eyes takes away from the character likeness...they may be prettier but the "eyes rolled up into the head" look is more in line with the character and what I've always perceived as the "I'm a man of my word" look they're trying to go for.

I see what your saying about character likeness, but I think they are looking too far up IMO on the stock paint making him look bored, or sleepy looking. I also feel that the eyes being more centered, improves the likeness to Ledger more.

BTW can please elaborate on why the expression is the ''I'm a man of my word look '' because his eye lids were actually slightly shut in that scene, so I don't get how them looking up resembles that scene

Also the mouth area repaint doesn't work for me...it's too neat, too defined, & the red strikes me as too dark...reminds me more of The Crow.

Agreed, I don't like the mouth area either.

I think the repaint is a two steps forward, one step back situation. While it's technically more proficient, (for all its flaws) the factory app does a better job of character portrayal.
YMMV, of course.

Maybe, it does, my main gripe with stock paint is more so the make up application.

The only thing the factory paint app needs fixed is the black around the eyes IMO. Everything else is fine to me.

So the vertical lines coming out of area (that I highlighted) above the eyes on the forehead don't look weird to you? They just look way too neat, the entire forehead bothers me, actually I don't like the make up paint application from the nose up.

The lines on the proto blended in more.

Sorry man, don't mean to sound aggressive toward you, I just don't get why you keep asking the same question "is Prime fixing this" when the statue has already been released. I just thought I would explain to you people are getting this repainted by professional painters and that Prime is not repainting these. :peace

I'm pretty okay with the rest of it and at this point I could probably easily do some very quick touch ups.

Yeah I was actually thinking area above eyes I mentioned could just be touched up by dry brushing and thus, not need a total repaint. The horizontal lines on the forehead are passable, but the area around the eyes needs a total repaint.

That being said I'm not getting this so yeah.

I envy you because you are not the predicament I am in. I really don't think you should have to even touch up a sculpt on a 2 K statue, let alone get it repainted, especially when other companies like Hot Toys, EB and even Sideshow have produced more natural messy make up looking applications on their Joker sculpts.

i know the statue is released, but some time you can see the different between the first stock and the second stock. So maybe Prime did that as well

The thing is that no one will ever be 100% happy with factory paint. No matter what it costs, this was still painted in a factory in china. Add to that that this statue represents ledger joker, probably the most scrutinized character out there next to the vaders and fetts of collecting world, and no one will ever be pleased unless they can make it look exactly how they want. I'm not talking down on it (like a certain someone in this forum *not you*) but ledger joker is always going to be a point of contention as far as accuracy goes.

Also, if something needs just a little tiny touch to make it perfect in my eyes, regardless of the price, I'm going to do it. It's that simple sometimes.

That right you do but I don't think Prime is like that, it looks like they want each piece to look the same, regardless of how bad it looks. Wish this wasn't the case but clearly Prime just doesn't care about putting the effort in.

Here's another repaint of the headsculpt:

Much better, the make up is messy as it should be, especially around the eyes and forehead.

The thing is that no one will ever be 100% happy with factory paint.

Yeah especially with this statue, but I think most people were happy with the DX11 paint job and the detail of the EB paint job. Regardless whether people are happy with it or not, one thing should remain consistent and that is the make up should have some level of messiness, and this just doesn't. Whereas the make up application on all other high end Joker pieces, even Sideshow's has a messy look to it. It isn't really Leger's Joker, if the make up doesn't have a messy look to it.

I see your point, some people will want a look from a different scene like the Hit Me scene and some will want a look from the interrogation scene. That's not my gripe with this though, I just want the same scene it is based on but with better detail and blending.

I'm not talking down on it (like a certain someone in this forum *not you*) but ledger joker is always going to be a point of contention as far as accuracy goes.

That's a relief, for a moment there I thought you meant me.

Well for me is this isn't all about accuracy it's about detail as well, I actually think Prime's is pretty accurate when it comes to where the streaks were around the eye area, the problem is no blending of the make up.

This pic taken with a blue filter really shows that the make up just looks like applied stencils given the neatness of it.

As you can see it totally lacks any blending with the white make up or black make up, it just looks like it has been slapped on after they painted the sculpt, especially the forehead and brow bone area.

Also, if something needs just a little tiny touch to make it perfect in my eyes, regardless of the price, I'm going to do it. It's that simple sometimes.

Tiny touch up is not too bad, it's when it gets to the point of repainting the whole thing that is should be :nono for such an expensive piece. Otherwise what is the point on spending so much money if u have to get the head repainted? I really think this needs more than to be touched up, it needs a total repaint.

Nice to see locals. I'm in Anaheim :). Look forward to your impressions. I'm hoping to pick this up if it goes on sale like Batman. You guys grab any other 1/2 statues?
